    I saw that. A well deserved award. He looks terrible from the cancer. Such a brilliant artist and a nice guy. Donna and I got to meet him at a county fair once. He was so generous in spending time with the fans. Barbara Mandrell was there as well as a few other country musicians. Cancer is a cruel disease.

    He is a really good signer and songwriter. We saw him for the first time back in the mid 90’s when he was the opening act for Sawyer Brown.

    I remember his wife when she was a little girl. Her mother was Arlene and father Ralph Lucus lived down the road from me.

    Ralph had a Springfield Model 15 with a destroyed stock, I had a model 15, removed the stock and gifted it to him. The kids enjoyed shooting their little single shot .22.
