Winchester Model 12 Feather Weight
I have been handed down from my grandfather a Winchester Feather Weight Model 12 12 gauge. I will never part with it but was wondering about the value for insurance purposes. The gun has not been used hardly at all. There is not a scratch or any damage on it. It has spent most of its life in a gun safe and taken out to wipe down a couple of times a year. I have several other shotguns to use so I know it will probably never be used as long as it is in my hands. I have no children, but do plan on keeping it in the family by passing it on to a nephew when I pass.

according to the blue book of gun values, forty second edition, that model 12 was manufactured between 1959 and 1964 and there should be an "f" suffix after the serial number (i think to designate featherweight). $825 for like new in box to $250 for a well used one. serial number between 1,795,500 to 1,970,855. it is my opinion that the value of a firearm is determined by just how much the buyer is willing to pay other than what it may be appraised at. to insure it for 1k would be well within reason, in my opinion
