First in 60 years??, I think I'd want to build a little larger herd than of just one before I start blasting. JMO

Hopefully, there is a large herd slowly moving back in.

Joe, Virginia State, in partnership with the Va. Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, have established herds farther west in Va. This one was probably driven away and wandered 50+ miles out of that area.

I know the nimrod father. They are serious hunters.

Local hunter harvests first elk in Giles Co. in more than six decades
A Giles County man harvested an animal not seen there since 1958. Lifelong native Wesley Woodyard hunted Giles County’s first elk in decades, an animal up until now not thought to still be in the county.
