Deer mount cost
All these deer mount posts has me wondering. What are the typical costs in your area for mounts?
I'm getting a shoulder mount on a board this year, total cost is $420.

I haven't done a shoulder mount in a few years, but that sounds like a pretty fair price. I'd guess $600 would be a close estimate around here.

I've never had a deer mounted, or anything else. (But) I just posted recently that my next door neighbor, a couple years ago had a full body Bobcat mounted crouching on a tree limb. ($600) [It is very nicely done.] Someone else commented that the had the same but paid $1,100 for it.
$420, sounds like a deal. (But) I really do not know.

I have one. It's the first buck I harvested with a bow. $350 in 1998.

This is the one she did for me a couple of years ago. He wasn't anything spectacular as far as number of points, but the symmetry was awesome. This one was $350 I do believe. He will be relocated to make room for my 12 pointer.

I have a relative that does it over in Minnesota. I've never asked him what he charges folks.

You need anything done, you should bring it up to K&L just outside of Doniphan. Save yourself more than a few bucks on your buck.

Sounds very reasonable. I paid $35.00 in 1960 and it still looks like new. My Bobcat was $1100.00 four years ago, but a great body mount.

There is one ole boy here that does them for $250. I've had quite a few done by him with little complaints on all but one. He used too small of a form.
His work on the others are better than those of a couple of hunting buddies that paid more than double.
The other locals charge between $500 up to over $1000

Here is a funny story. I was 21 and had shot my first buck at our mountain house. I didn't realize that I had walked in about 4 miles from our place. Anyway, I shot a little Y buck, at 6:30 in the morning. I drug that deer up and down two mountains, wore the hide off his side, and pulled all the muscles in my ribs, doing so. Took me 7 hours to drag that deer out, with my stand and rifle. When I got home, I told the wife that I was getting it mounted. She looked at me like I was crazy. You have killed a few big deer and never mounted them, why are you mounting this one??? Well dear, I spent so much time with this deer, I mine as well keep it. LOL. That little Y buck , hangs on the wall in my office, and brings back memories of a long day!!!!.
My very first deer, was a little 3" spike buck. I have his spikes mounted on a plaque downstairs in my reloading room. That deer will always be my favorite buck. No 12 or ten pointer, could even come close to that deer. I can remember that hunt like it happened yesterday. Oak
PS, Sue, I make custom plaques for antlers. If you ever harvest a deer and just want the antlers mounted, I will make you one for "free". I have all different designs from Bow and arrow, to a huge leaf. I would be honored to do it for you. Oak

16 months? Damnn... I'd forget what that silly thing looked like. Better take pictures and other identifying marks.
