Live trap baited with peanut butter. 100% result.

Why? Is it easier to catch a Rodent when you wear a hat? Or do you make the Rodent wear the Hat? Asking for a friend. 🤔

    *Badminton racquet. "Ping"

I feel your pain. Every fall, (right about now.) The Field mice seem to think they can move right in, for the wintertime. I'm pretty sure they use the underhouse flexible ductwork, as a highway to gain entrance. I've decided not to even try and use the worthless Heat pump this year and I have closed all the monitors, (not only because they let cold air in,) but I figured it would keep the mice out.

    So far, so good.

Seriously, I can respect not wanting to kill it. Try throwing a towel on it.

Think I’d try a fishing net in one hand and yard stick in the other, then take him outside for release.

Any clue to his access point?

Agree with Dave, I had a couple of bats come in our old house and a trout net did the trick. I'd try one with nylon string to lessen the chance of getting caught on his claws.

I had a small Owl, come down my chimney a few years back and get in my large Fischer Grandpa model woodstove. When I opened the double door and it hopped out into the house. It totally freaked me (and Buddy) out.

I threw a towel on it and let it go, outside. I don't like to kill anything, unless absolutely necessary. (And) I Love Owls.

I will never forget that. Too bad, I didn't have video of it. Too funny.

    Fly paper?

Say how did it get in? A hole in a wall? I'd get a net on a stick or you can get all "Great Outdoors" on it.

I was awakened at midnight. Daisy had the squirrel cornered under the sofa. Daisy wanted to kill the little guy and I have seen her kill moles, rabbits and voles. Loves to kill rodents.

I saw the little guy bolt from the sofa and run behind the dresser and Daisy was jumping at the dresser, growling. This went on for 2 hours, Daisy chasing him up the stairs and attacking him under the bed. There was chaos throughout the house.

Finally, at 2 am he ran into the bathroom. Following Rocky's advice, I had set the Havahart trap out on the porch, and baited it with peanut butter. I brought the trap inside and set it on the bathroom floor. In a minute, I saw run all the way through the trap, in one end and out the other, and the trap did not spring! A real Houdini act, I think he just jumped over the bait tray, not sure how he did it, happened really fast.

I put on some heavy leather gloves and I went in there and caught him. Thank God for the heavy gloves because he was seriously biting, but the little mite couldn't bite through the heavy leather.

I took him for a 5 mile midnight ride out into the country and turned him loose. He was uninjured. With memories of the ferocious beagle fresh in his mind, hopefully he won't come back.

Your photo of "Daisy," reminds me of one of my favorite dogs. An absolutely Awesome Frisbee dog. (People would stop and watch us all the time. ) "Bess," the largest most muscular Boston Terrier I have ever seen. (Brought home at about 12-14 weeks.) Loved that dog. Second only to Buddy, my Pit rescue. (Apprx "9 mo. Old," per the Vet.)

She would crawl in and sleep under the woodstove. I have a photo here somewhere.

    Great dog. Miss her greatly.
