First deer, lady down the street
Last night as I was eating dinner, I get a phone call. John, I shot a buck and I'm kind of lost. I jump into the truck and head over to where I think she is at. I find her truck and then find her in about five minutes. She forgot her flashlight. I walk her out to her truck and then we head to her stand. We find her stand and then I tell her to point where she shot the deer. 40 yards!!! Holy smokes, that was pretty far for a first timer. I walk over and find blood right away. A blind person could have followed this blood trail. It only went 40 to 50 yards and DRT. I flipped the deer over and gutted it for her. The heart was split right in half!!!!!!!!!!! What a shot!! She walked over to her tree, got her bow and tree stand, and I dragged the buck out for her. We got it all tagged and in the back of her pickup. This woman rocks!!!! I found a new hunting partner, and NO, my wife doesn't mind, cause she knows how much I care for her and won't stray. I know someone is going to ask. LOL. Not the biggest deer, but one she will never forget. I'm so proud of her, for doing this hunt all on her own, with very little guidance. Not often you see a woman bow hunter in these parts. My friend is going to let her hunt his farm next year, with the two of us. We want to see if we can put her onto a nice trophy. Oak

I'm proud to say the hunting gene runs strong in the females on my side of the family. My sister-in-law hunts as do three of my nieces. They are raising their baby girls to be hunters as well.
Number 1 is hunting this week on the family farm while I am out of state. She's postmaster of our little town and has been working her butt off. She's taking a few days of rest to commune with nature and hopefully kill something. She's using my 30.06 while I'm gone.
