My really good dog vet finally retired. She was almost as old as I am. The other vets in my area..
are very unimpressive. Not to mention EXPENSIVE. Really good is worth expensive but so-so is not!!
My local farm supply place sells 7 way injections so I'm good except for rabies and the local Tractor Supply has a vet that comes in twice a month for $30 rabies shots.
The problem is my eight year old Border Collie is having a minor barfing issue. It only happens maybe 3 times in two months. I could ignore this but my clean freak, not a dog person wife comes unglued when Bella barfs in her CLEAN HOUSE!! Since I so don't like being screamed at because Bella has tossed her cookies on Mommas clean floor/rug I need to do something, anything to shut her up. Not the dog, the wife!!😁
When Bella eats backward it is almost always first thing in the morning and is almost always a yellow frothy puck! I feed my girls Diamond Lamb and Rice, the same food I have been feeding for years. When they are running in the yard their coats are so shiny when the sun is shining on them it is amazing so I don't think it is the kibble. I have stopped feeding anything extra like table scraps to see if that helps. It seems to have helped a little. Several months ago the barfing was more frequent as Bella loves going over to my Zennia bed and eating Zennia leaves than barfing them inside but there are no more Zennia leaves so the barf is no longer leaves, but it is as I said earlier, yellowish and frothy.
If my vet hadn't retired I would have taken Bella to her but since that is not an option and I don't know of a GOOD vet to take her to for a minor problem. I'm asking if any of you have had similar problems and what did you do about it??
It so sucks losing a good vet when there is no reasonable replacement.😔😪

First all Lad is 10 and a half and does that when he eats to fast... I have had 3 vets retire and my good friend Dr Bob who was always there for me passed away in June 😞 our Dr Bob never minded a call at home.... Don't let your wife meet me.... We have 3 in the house. 🙂

My border Fran does the same thing when she eats too fast she's 5 years old and if she's in a hurry to get out she'll bolt her food
We also have a lack of good vets..

Fran would stand out in that crowd, she's a lilac brown and white.

I expect it is from eating too fast as has been said . There are some bowls on the market that slow down the dogs eating speed . Might be worth a try . Luke the poodle does the same thing when he eats too fast .

This happens to my Golden Retriever whenever he eats GRASS outside. Talked to my vet about it once and was told that grass is a dogs Pepto Bismol. The puke is always a green shade of slime. Also, nothing to worry about as far as the dogs health goes.

I agree with you that this isn't a serious health issue for Bella but having to listen to my wife doing her "female dog imitation" could have negative connotations for MY health!!😁

Agee with finding a good vet is difficult
And cost is going higher every day
I recall years ago seeing adds for pet insurance ant thought how silly
But now after years of vet bills an out living and watching so many vet bills ome trying to save them
Not counting just the normal barge of shots and meds along the way
Any way I never checked but pet insurance Maynor Bea bad way to go any one ever deal with it
Our current dogs and getting d from apx 9 yrs to about 14
So not many years for any of them sad to say
I will guess like people
pets that old would be no way due to age or would still be no way from our side Due to some crazy rate
Cats ahhh never mind. We have them From 10 weeks to 15 yrs old .

@dreher I remember I saw something at Dr Bob's before he retired, it was an article about feeding your dog out of a cupcake pan... You even out the food in all the cups and they have to eat slower.

Buddy is the exact opposite. He will only approach the elevated food bowl, if you are not around it, by sneaking up on it. He will slowly work it down. He is not food aggresive. I can pet him, even put my face down by his while he is eating. I can take treats out of his mouth with mine. Good to go.
Then after eating, he will take the long way around, behind the couch to go to his "favorite" water bowl, across the room. The water bowl, beside his elevated food bowl, is only used when his "favorite" water bowl is out/empty. 🤔
Then, after water, he will Always go sit by the front door and just quietly stare at me. He is such a nut.

My vet, who is a neighbor is spending about one week a month at his Bald Island beach house.
Man, I shoulda been a veterinarian.

Yellow froth with no food in it? Sounds like Bella has acid on an empty stomach. Maybe feed earlier in the morning, or later at night. Acid on an empty stomach will make them vommit bile.
You didnt say if it was before or after eating, but since you didnt mention food in the barf....i assume its before and on an empty stomach.
Sinus drainage could be an issue too. Give Bella OTC Zyrtec if sinus problems are suspected.

My Jack Russell will eat as fast as he can with no problem.Only time he threw up in the house was a big green lizard he caught and ate out in the yard.
