Gave a Young Couple a Good Deal -
Just sold my very large Fischer Grandpa model woodstove for $400, to a nice young couple. They just picked it up. They had come by a few days ago, to take my specs/measurments and talk. I threw in a heavy Steel back panel to close off their fireplace, (custom cut) the back couple sections of 8" dia pipe and the decorative ring that closes it off. A tube of Stove Polish, a 3'Γ4' front clearish' piece of fireproof plexiglass to put under the front legs to keep damage from sparks/fire on your carpet, (made specifically for that.) a large Eco-fan to blow heat, ($100 there, alone.) and a cast iron kettle. ($40)
It was gonna be $450, still a screaming good deal, but I said I would take $50 off, if they helped me pick up and stack about 3 cords of firewood dumped in front of my woodshed. Done. Deal for both of us. Two guys came with their young wives and we got it all done. Having fun doing it. Lottsa laughs. ππ
*Bonus for me, getting the wood in and stacked. Took 5 of us about 45 minutes. Woulda' taken me all day. Win/win for all of us. We had a good time doing it.
How's your day going?
Buddy crying and whimpering that he was being left out, the whole time. (On his 100' cable lead.) The two girls gave him lot's of Love. Amber met him/was introduced to him a couple days ago. She walked right up to him and said "Hi Buddy." He is such a Ham/Love Puppy. "A big, scary, Pit Bull." LOL.

Sounds like you made out. 3 cords would take this old man three weeks to stack. I have a wood furnace to list for sale and two cords of wood that needs to be stacked. I am going to keep your sales tactics in mind and see if I can get that wood stacked.

2-3 cords, is probably more accurate. π€
A large double axle dump truck full. (To the top and rounded over.) A 16x20' tarp barely covered it.
*Filled my 8x10 woodshed 2/3 full.

Yeah, we've been texting back and forth since they picked it up. I gave them the loan of my heavy duty rolling dolly and offerred them the use of a motorcycle/atv jack dolly to use if they wished. They declined the jack, took me up on the Dolly.
Two young guys with "Engineering degrees," (learned this from my friend that knows them.) They work Millright jobs. My modified Jeep Wrangler was right beside where we were grabbing wood from and right near the woodstove. The two guys kept commenting on it. Then, one of the guys say's, "I've got a Real Jeep. It's a Patriot." I kept my composure and did not laugh. About 30 seconds later they all start laughing. I picked up on the Joke and told him "I hard a hard time keeping a straight face, when you said that." Which brought more laughter. He said, "Yeah, I take a lot of abuse over it, but it get's great mileage." More laughter.
Then the guy that made the Jeep comment starts in on Amber, the other guy's wife, while were stacking wood. "Like Amber. She just Loves helping people out, don't you Amber?" I said "What's that mean, Amber really doesn't like to help people out?" More laughter.
That's how the whole interaction went. They were very appreciative and know I gave them a Screamin' good deal. Especially with all the add-ins that I threw there way.
Hey, It just occurred to me, Maybe I can ask these guys to help with my deck build. π€ππ
*The rest of us guys contemplating building this deck, might as well call each other "The Old Geezer Construction Crew." We have a lot of experience though. π
