Unless it was high-end gear, it’s generally not worth the effort to repair. Enjoy your sound bar…or buy a new setup. IMO.

Check craigslist for vintage electronics. Found a guy who was repairing vintage stuff and he fixed an amp I had. Or you might find a working version of what you need.

good luck. Some of the old stuff had a great sound. Wish my ears were still up to listening to good stuff.πŸ™„

When a friend passed years ago, nobody wanted the large speakers. I rescued them from the curb to cobble together a surround sound system. Now it's interesting how the older equipment is sought after. Go for it Ken.

there is your answer Ken. That is what I would do. Kenwood made some of the best stereos when we were younger. I forgot I had a bose surround system down stairs, until just now. I redid our basement about 6 years ago, and threw the speakers up in the drop ceiling until I was done. I guess tomorrow I will have to go get them down and bring them upstairs. We stopped using the downstairs when our son moved back in then. Merry Christmas to me!!! LOL

I consider "Kenwood," stuff to be "High End," worthy of repair. I'll try and find someone local.

I posted about this a few years back and a Member here, offerred to have me send it to him to repair. I never took him up on it, do not remember his name and he must no longer be around. πŸ€”

@hillbille You forgot the WD-40 for parts that are supposed to move, but don't.

I used to have a very nice Yamaha Stereo. Bought one piece at a time while in the Service. A really nice system. After getting divorced, a couple pieces "disappeared." Nice. Very nice. πŸ€”

Rescued my receiver and a couple speakers. (Tape deck and a direct drive, straight arm Turntable with a Bang and Oluffson (SP?) cartridge/needle, Vanished. (My Ex, will still not admit to it.) My Yamaha receiver finally bit the dust. I put two very nice Yamaha speakers curbside, when I was moving back down South, about 13 years ago. They disappeared very quickly. Someone made out.

I miss some of my old rigs/set ups.

Ken, around here the 'Radio Shack' stores have a repair center within the store. They advertise they can fix anything electronic. Got a 'shack' nearby? Good luck.

Them old tube type Kenwood eq is worth the effort to get repaired. They are desirable and collectable. I recently gave my grandson one of my old Kenwood stereos with the original owners manuals.

Shipping electronic, heavy equipment is not a good thing either. (and costly)

You might ask around pawn shops if they know any people close to you locally that plays gigs, and have amplifiers. The music people like tube type equipment vs solid state eq and will know a reliable repair tech for such. Try to get more than one reference /referral and then screen the reference good. Kinda like looking for a good reliable mechanic.

Even vacuum tubes are expensive now days.

I'm a retired Lic'ed electronic tech, electrician, mechanic, HVAC tech and now only do repairs for myself and also got my grandson interested in electronics at a young age and he now has an engineering degree and started repairing music amplifiers and other electronic eq at a young age and though college.. My Grandson no longer takes in repairs on the side now days. (he has a full time job)
