Marlin 1894cb questions.
Do any of you collect these CB's and if so, what calibers do you have??? Does anyone have or had, a 44-40, or a 444 in a Marlin 1894cb??? I'm thinking of getting one in either 45, 44-40 or 444. I never liked the CB barrels, until a few years ago. Now I have been buying any of them I can find. I'm leaning towards either the 44-40 or the 45. I think the 444 will kick like a mule, but I really don't know, as I have never shot one. I like my 38-55 for hunting, and want something just to shoot paper and add to my collection. Looking for input on any of these calibers. Oakie

Just sold all of mine but they were a big part of my collection I always leaned more to the 35 Remington as my favorite. I had all of them at one time except the 44-40. I had the .444 outfitter which is the twin to the 45-70 Guide gun. I would say it kicked about the same as a heavy 30-06 load

the .357 was a fun gun to plink with especially with 38 special.

grandkids have shot better than 2000 rounds through mine........mostly 38's

I have a 45 Colt and it has very little recoil, even with hot loads.

Yep, the 444 is in an 1895 length action. I have a 41 and 45 Colt and really like them, but would really like to get one in 44-40 since I already own a S&W revolver model 547 in 44-40. The 24" octagon barrel can get fairly heavy to hold up for an extended period.

CB is a cowboy/octagon barrel. I looked again and the 44-40, and 444 was not listed today. I'm betting it was a mistake and the guy took it down. I trust what you are telling me. I just type in 1894cb , everyday, to see what is available. Thank you for the info. I love when I learn new information on firearms, as I don't know everything about them. Mike, this is what I was looking at, and that is why I said 1894. It was a 1894 Winchester Carbine, not Marlin. I came under 1894cb and I guess it got moved. Oak

it can be confusing between Winchester and Marlin's 92's, 93's and 94's as they were made in 'opposite' caliber's (pistol/rifle)
