a bit of a gun thead.....

I had a SW EZ in 9mm fore a while. Recoil was negligible and the grip felt wide enough that it didn't impact that meaty bit between thumb and first finger. The size was easy to carry, too. Not too heavy, not too long.

The quality of mine was a bit suspect, though. One of the roll pins on the slide would work loose after about 50 shots. Something to look out for if you end up getting one.

@hillbille this is the thread you were talking about:

A little while ago there was a thread regarding carry pistol for ladies, and those having a hard time racking a slide on a semi auto.

Reading through a American Rifleman magazine I seen an ad for a new .380 with a tip up barrel.

It is from EAA Girsan. I found this video of it and it looks really nice. This just may be the ticket.

Anyone see or handle one yet?

Check out the S&W Equalizer. Smaller with the same EZ slide but deeper serrations and easier to hold onto the slide. Can also get it with a 911-type thumb safety if she wants it.

Just saw one at a gun show today @ $500. Made by Girsan (Turkish I think).

We have an EZ slide. Wife finds it to be too large for CCW in her purse.

that was my fear Joe, though from the video, I'm not sure the girsan tip up is any smaller.....

    S&W 642 Airweight. (J frame)

Judging by past "favorite CCW," threads, widely owned/carried. (Not that it matters, [but] I am one.)

    Just saying.

I used to have a snubby 38 and the recoil between her thumb and trigger finger hurt to much to shoot with her arthritis, only reason I was looking towards the 380 in the smaller semi. We may just settle on one of the small 22mag revolvers, as I never really liked the idea of carrying in a purse, as that would be the first thing "taken" in any altercation. But if it makes her feel better/safer guess that helps, as she works for/in a local Mall.......

I gave my Sister a 642 with a "Flash Bang," Bra carry holster. Lift your shirt, (flash) pull downward, point/aim (bang.) It is pretty nice combo. Soft load .38 Special loads are out there.

*Have a great/prosperous New Year, for you and your Family, Paul.

Don't shy away from the .22

You DO NOT want to get hit in the belly by a .22

You really don't want to get hit in the chest with one.

Exactly!!! Getting hit by a marshmallow going 1000fps is gonna hurt. A 22lr at that same velocity? You're gonna contain the threat.

I gave my Kel-Tec 9mm to a friend because it got to a point where I couldn't rack the slide. I also bought the S&W EZ 9mm after trying the slide at a local dealer. I love it, however I don't carry a purse. 😉

Wife has a Beretta 21A Bobcat .22 and 3032 Tomcat .32 ACP, both tip-ups, perfect for her capabilities. Racking a slide is problematic for her.
