Hoop Snakes and Christmas
My fondest memories of Christmas now that I’m older is my dad waking my brother sister and I every Christmas morning. He would come in the room and wake us up by saying in his excited voice. HOOP SNAKES, HOOP SNAKES GET YOUR BOOTS, SANTA CLAUS HAS BEEN HERE. Up until the time I left home dad would wake the house up by saying that phrase to get us up. That tradition has been carried on to my brother and sister when waking up their kids on Christmas. When calling each other on the phone at Christmas we still refer to HOOP SNAKES. I just wanted to share that tradition.

Ha! That’s a fun tradition.
My Granny is in her mid-90s and will swear to this day that when she was little, a Hoop Snake put it’s tail in it’s mouth, rolled up into a hoop, and rolled/chased her down North Main Street.

Never heard of or the term 'Hoop Snake' until this post. Just googled it. Very interesting and would make for a interesting separate thread.

Great story and great tradition to follow, keeping those childhood memories alive!
As for my childhood Christmas memories, us kids always were up and awake way before our folks!
I doubt the snow left on the floor from Santa's boots had even melted yet! 😁

My Dad (RIP ) told me stories of hoop snakes
how they would grab their tale and roll down hills . just one of many subjects I would debate on. I think some times he just agreed just to end the discussion but never changed his mind
