Tryon Merrick & Co Rifle
Anyone have info on this rifle. It's 36 caliber. Marked Lynchburg, VA on top of barrel. Thanks.

Tryon was a family gunsmith business in Philadelphia from 1811 thru the end of the 1800's I have no reference of Merrick &Co. They could be a retail seller. Unusual that the makers name is not on the barrel.
I would say that it was made in Lynchburg, VA, using a lock made by Tryon.
Added: Cannot find Fisher or any similar name located in Lynchburg, VA, in any of my reference books.

It looks like something is marked to the left of Lynchburg on barrel, but I can't make it out. It might be "Fisher" though as I have just found another very similar rifle that has "Fisher" next to the Lynchburg, VA. Thanks. I'll try to upload another picture of that area of barrel.
