That perfectly illustrates the problem. Because the wrong word does NOT mean the same as the right word.

Example: "Many might think elubsme is an idiom." Can you be sure what I meant?

The propagandist media knows exactly what they're saying spewing. They do it as a subtle sign of disrespect.

Talking heads are bad on word usage but those that write articles are almost universally terrible, including the editors of large newspapers and magazines, my eyes can't avoid them which drives me nuts. They all seem to blame the actual printers but that's a cop-out in my opinion, to me it's just another case of CYA in todays world.

We "boomers" get a lot of ridicule from Gen Whatever types. But at least we can spell and know grammar. (well, a lot of us, anyway.)

Rocky, when I subscribed to one of our larger state newspapers ,my favorite columnist was William Safire. Loved his " On Language" writings. Learned a lot from reading them .Don't always get it correct but I try .

At least some of us DO try. None of us are as punctilious as we might be.

I had punctilious as a kid. It was awful.

Beware that your pusillanimous doesn't kick in.

Some of my friends are shrewish; I'm not antiseptic.

Seems to me that it is the MEDIA trying to stir up trouble between the generations.

All part of a diabolical plan to further divide our country.

Don't let this fun thread to go political. Or polemical.
