They claim "by catch" or "incidental catch". I guess want not waste not? It's not just the Vikings, Jappos and Eskimos. There's even a whaling port in Ulsan for "by catch"? That seems odd. Having a port just for "incidental catch". I'll have to google map that area.

Are we talking about North or South Koreans here? I understand that the majority population of North Korea are living in poverty and have to eat pretty much anything that they can get there hands on.

The way I see it is it's better than the days of whaling for just oil. Just because the West slapped "endanger Mammal" after there weren't many left to squeeze out oil does not clean the blood off their hands. Also don't forget after WW2 MacArthur said to the Jappos let them eat whale.

I don't think I'd hunt a whale. I'd love to get a few sperm whale teeth and I'd eat a whale steak without issue.
Oh I remember reading something about "Calamari" being pig rectums. If you don't get any legs of the squid I'd question what you're eating. Also I heard Korea will stop dog breeding for eats as 2027 or there abouts.
