Total eclipse and an invitation
My little town is smack dab in the middle of the path of the 8 April 2024 total eclipse. Hotels, cabins, airbnb's, campsites, etc. are sold out along the path. My little town's totality portion is estimated at 4 minutes 12 seconds.
Should anyone be so inclined, I extend an invitation to join me here on the farm to observe the event. I have my camper that sleeps 6 comfortably on beds and a table that converts to a bed that will sleep two little people or one large people. When parked at my house it is on a concrete pad with power and water.
Also, there is plenty of space for tents or your own RV if you want to pull it to mid-America.
You are welcome to join me to stand outside and ogle the sky for however long it takes from start to finish. Before and after that we can grill and enjoy adult beverages.
My little piece of the world is in Doniphan Missouri should you care to do an internet search.
Here is the timeframe for the eclipse at my house. Totality will be 4 minutes 9 seconds.

looks like it will only last a little over 2 minutes @ Jonesboro Arkansas

The entire eclipse will take almost three hours so it should be entertaining from start to finish.
@danielgage as I said, anyone and everyone is welcome to join me. Come on up. I'm about 1.5 hours from Jonesboro. Depending on which side you're on. I prefer to make the drive through Pocahontas unless I'm going to the east side, then I'll go through Paragould.

I hear the Demolition Ranch resort is gonna have some RV campsites and some primitive campsites ready by then too. Maybe I should look that eclipse up and see if it'll happen for Michigan, too. I missed the 2016/2017 eclipse as I was in Tampa that day, and this one's on a day I gotta be home for even if I could travel.

Very gracious invitation ma'am.

Very generous of you.
My son had just graduated from SIU in Carbondale when the last one went through.
His plan was to drive down the morning of and stay at a friends.
I told him that interstate 57 would be a parking lot that morning.
He checked out the travel forecast that morning and dear ol dad was right.
He stayed home.

Thing will get crazy. We had one here in the NC mountains several years ago. A strip mall over in N. Georgia that was in the path of totality was charging by the carload, $50 PER PERSON to park there for a half hour and watch the eclipse.

Talked to a friend of mine that plans on going to Carbondale Illinois to view the eclipse, his birthday is on the 8th. He is paying $1800 for a room for one night.
If Murphys law holds true, it will be overcast that day.
Thank you for the invite, but I don’t think I’ll be able to make it, again thank you for the invite.

It would be nice to meet some other GB'rs in an informal meet and greet. I have communicated to Susie, that I am interested in going. (I am apprx 4 hrs away.) Hopefully some other's here will be interested and we can meet a few Member's up, grill, have some cocktails and bring some toys and shoot some. (B4 Alcohol becomes involved.)
I hope some here are interested in taking Susie up, in her most gracious offer. It would be great to meet and greet a few GB'rs.

$1800 for a motel room. There you go. Besides paying $250 for a carload of 5 to watch the eclipse in the parking lot of a strip mall, when the eclipse is over people will be in a massive traffic jam, 3 hours to go 8 miles to get back to the interstate.

Very generous of you, Susie!
This past summer we were in the '70-80%' zone of an eclipse. I was at the range shooting a defensive pistol match and we paused the match for about a half hour to watch the eclipse.

My weekend place is on one of the fairways of the North Course in Cherokee Village and it says it will be for 4 minutes 12 seconds there.
My office in an hour and 45 minutes east of there and will the eclipse will not be as definite. My mind says that on April 8, even though it would be cool, you don't need to even think about going there to watch it.

It would be really nice to get some GB'rs to meet up. Pretty centrally located. Just saying. 🤔

Very nice invite, but I'm not allowed out that late.

Live In the path too, but consider it is in April and the odds of clouds and rain in April are very high along the path.
