Dickens
My daughter and I took turns reading from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" last night. Man, I love and share so much in common with Scrooge's outlook pre-Marley's ghost visit. He adhered to many good points.
Aside from all that. Man, this tale was well constructed literature. Charles regularly employs the use of drawn out descriptive repetition to make his point. You really feel how dark and cold the environment was, in his so doing. Things written in the 18th and 19th centuries were so well crafted, and the verbiage tripped up my daughter as she read aloud numerous times.

We watched A Christmas Carol with George C Scott last night. Great movie. George C Scott was very good as Scrooge.
It was set about 1835, London was the epicenter of the Industrial Revolution, and everybody heated with coal.

Well, there are so few movies that are fit to watch with my kidsā¦.my expectations are pretty low. If it aināt animated and itās not centered on some troubled girl and a horseā¦ā¦Iām pretty easy to please.

Older authors had away with their words of description that are captivating. I have reread Daniel DeFoes, āRobinson Crusoeā, a few times and every time Iām still drawn into the story. A Christmas Carol is a classic piece of literature, and a story that will never fail to capture oneās imagination.
