Dog adoption
My SIL lost her dog a few days back and is heartbroken the dog had a brain tumor that went unknown for years my SIL had her to the vet countless times but they never did a exrays or thought about possibly a tumor long sad story
But why I am posting was the process of getting a rescue pet now
We told her to get her a new pal to help focus her time and love on and take away her grieving Some what
Same as the vet told her
My wife was helping her and also helped her do some searching at local shelters
They found one that a true sweetheart they had picked her up on the street back in September
Any way my wife went today to help out
She said the paper work was overwhelming in all the questions and back ground checks .even I was amazed at how far they went into personal life to adopt the dog
But it all worked out my SIL is so happy with her new found buddy
Glad they have some concern as to gets one but a bit of over kill

D-R, sadly too many people pickup a pup from the shelter and after a while decide they don't really want him & dump it. When I was raising Bullmastiff's decades ago I was very picky on who bought them. They were family to me. One lady I know from a mutual acquaintance wanted one and I wouldn't sell unless she fenced part of her back yard. She lived in the country not far from me on 57 acres but no fence. She showed up in a few days in her truck with her boyfriend & a truck bed full of fencing. I went to her place later and saw the fence and she got her pup.

my wife told me she was in tears ( why we dont go to shelters to soft herted to see so mnay dogs needing a forever home ) so many dogs begging for attention. s
he said she fell in love with the dog as it reminded her of one we lost eight years ago ( betsy ) and was tempted to take it but knew her sister really needed a new companion. we know they will love and take care of it . she kept my wifes phone lit up with photos and happiness text over her new little girl ( about a yr old )

Every so often we drop off a bag or two of dog and cat food at our local shelter.

We adopted an adult Lab from one of the local rescue organizations. They did a background check on us and even a home visit with the dog (Max) to see if we were compatible before they approved the adoption. I truly appreciate the depth they go to went adopting out a cat or dog.

Went through the same Vetting/Background Check in order to adopt Buddy about 6 years ago. I appreciate that they do this.
Buddy and I are so close, he can literally read my mind. I have seen it too many times to discount it.
God brought us together. I believe that.

I imagine it also cuts down on dog fighters using the poor rescued pooches as training bait. Too many pets go missing due to thefts for this cruel practice.

Yeah all that paper work to adopt a critter is a pain. They'd look at me with closer eye especially when I'll play in to their fears. I'll start off by saying that I need or want the dog by Saturday. When they ask why Saturday? I'll answer I'm throwing a BBQ. When they look at me with horror. I'll put them at easy by saying I can push the date back to Sunday.

Trust me being short most of my younger life it was a magnet to be bullied
By most trying to make them self feel better about them self I guess
Being teased and being part of making fun of my being vertically challenged I was OK that a whole different thing and I even joined in majority of the time

My SIL could not be happier she and her husband and grandson she has custody of just much they love the dog and can't stop sharing with wife by text messages and photos how much and how well behaved and smart her new pal is
I am so happy for all of them it filed a void of love they all needed
