Points
I just read the post about being in GB jail and how 4 or so points is a big problem. Looking at my profile I see that I have 1.7K points. I should have been given the chair. I guess there are different kinds of points. The points for jail was well explained but what are the points on my profile?

Moderation points- you don't want. You will be made aware when you receive them.
Participation points- Although we have discussed this before, I'm still not clear exactly how they are calculated.
I know obviously by participation. Number of post, number of likes ??? Don't know.
I believe @Mr. Perfect researched this and has the best understanding of the points. Hopefully he will reply.

Speaking of points
Early in life my " points " cost me my drivers license for 30 days and driving school and nasty letters from the state And quite a list of accomplishments tickets in my glove compartment or i mean infractions per state rules lol
Amazing my insurance company still had safe driver discount on my insurance payments lol

There are a two different kinds of points: Moderation points- when a moderator gives you an official warning, the warning level dictates the number of points, or severity of the warning. You do not want moderation points. Earn too many at once and you are automatically banned.
The other kind of points are all positive. Users earn points by earning badges, and by earning positive reactions to their posts. Posts that receive the most points are grouped into and featured in the "Best of" link found on the upper right side of your screen.
Above that "Best Of..." link, you will see the "Activity" link. Click that and you can see a listing of recently awarded badges and promotions to the various Levels.
Points a user accrues move them to the various Levels, which can enable different user permissions in the forum. At the "Activity" link, you can also see a leader-board for which member has accrued the most points for the week and the all time point earners. The top 10 for each category are shown. Want to earn points faster? Participate more. That is the bottom line.
Points can also be awarded for answering questions in a QnA, but it appears that has not been enabled in our software instance. If there is significant interest in that, perhaps @GB Marketing could be persuaded to enable it. My experience is that no one here really seems to care much about earning points, however.

Looking at how points are earned, it would appear to be the 400 or so "liked" post disparity. But honestly, I am not able to see what number of points that are awarded for each of the various activities I outlined above. I believe only GB Marketing has that power.

I was always taught that to be counted as a point, you had to be able to hang a ring from it. And in the East they count both sides of the antlers, but out West they count one side.
Wait....... this not about deer antler points???
Never mind.................................
