Correct Joe. Animal rescue lady came out with her son, got him up while her son straddled him around his neck, She tended to the wound, gave his shots of antibiotics, B-12, and pain meds. If he stays in the back yard overnight she said that she will be out tomorrow to tend to him again. BTW, the son was wearing a flak jacket, helmet, and face shield. I think they have done this before!

He's a good size, mature buck too. I'd like to see what the other guy looks like.

My Dad told me a story about him and some Army buddies, accidently hitting a deer in a vehicle. (In Germany 1949ish) They got out, one guy went to pick it up/move it when it came back to life. Cut him up badly. Off to the Emergency room.

Fighting over a woman, when will they learn. Lol. Thanks for calling someone to help. I’ve seen deer before that have lost antlers fighting. That has to hurt.

    Sounds like a smart kid.

Seems like critters know where a safe haven is.

Does bring they fawns near the house and bed them down during their early life.

I guess the yotes keep away from humans could be the reason.

Went around back of my house the other day. Heard the biggest commotion ever. Big buck had bedded down under back porch. Porch is no more than 4 feet of the ground.

After being doctored up that afternoon, the next morning he was gone.

Also obviously, I'm not a hunter. A pal that is quickly pointed out the the number of antlers have is the sum of both. So, this guy must be (was) an 8 pointer. I'm trying to learn guys! Also he must live out back. I have a small (1 acre) way out back beyond my shop that is very heavily wooded. Hard to walk through it. My son has seen matted down areas where they bed down.

Been my experience the antlers are usually within one point of each other, one side to the other.

So having four points on the one side remaining, he could've been a

    4x3

    4x4

    4x5

Again this has been my experience, don't know if it holds true across the board.

    Thanks for update Jeff.

... and my wife says that I'm too old to learn.

If he lives, I may see him again next year. My shop is 100yds in back of the house and the wooded area is 20 yards in back of the shop - just passed the garden. My hunter pal said to keep away from him as those horns can kill. While he was still on the deck I told my wife to go out and pat him & try to get him on his feet. ☺️

I'm pretty sure he will survive. Yes, those antlers can be deadly, be careful.
