This looks like some interesting tech. They're working on making wood transparent. Stronger than plexiglass or glass and with better insulating properties.

You wont see the forest or the trees.

That is amazing. Carbon fiber has revolutionized countless industries. Maybe transparent wood is the next revolution in materials.

True. For the target applications it's definitely harder, higher melting temperature, clearer, and more scratch resistant. The only benefit I see to transparent wood is that it may be cheaper as it could be more abundant.
