I hear you, hillbillie! I have the same problem. Maybe a creeper with a cattle p-r-o-d built in would help us get up quicker!

I started repairing and modifying cats trucks when I was 16

Always enjoyed it did soany free repairs for friends and family just because I liked the challenge and feeling of accomplishment when finished

I still do my own work but like you crawling in out and under twisting my arms like a pretzel

Int takes me several days to recover after most repairs any more but being stubborn I just keep plugging along at a 10x slower speed Any more

I am about to finish up a small shed I have been chipping away at since early summer frustrating for sure but I can't toss in the towel

Just messing with my buddy, hillbille.

    It's that Marine/Army rivalry thing.

I've found it easier to use a piece of cardboard rather than a creeper. I have to roll over onto my left side to get up due to bad right shoulder and hip. Just easier for me to do this w/o having to shift around on the creeper.

Plan B is the overhead hoist???

I made a deal with a local mechanic. I will do machining projects for him if he will do auto repair stuff. So far so good. I do not have to roll around on the ground.

Hah! Wait until you get REALLY old! If I fall down, I look around to see if there is anything else I need to do while I am down there!

Alpine I have a local mechanic I went to school with he is good and reasonable, not cheap but he won't rip you off and do extra either. he wanted $300, I got the rotors and pads and pads for my wifes car for $140, I figured I could handle brakes for the extra $160. it has just been so long I can't do anything kneeling or bent over I get short of breath, and laying flat on my back I have lost a lot of upper body strength since my bypass, My brain says I can still do it, but my body is arguing against it..... and for anyone who still does their own work, I had a golf buddy who told me about detroit axle, they are very reasonable and free shipping and 10 year warranty, everything I got looked good and fit great, about half to 2/3 the price of local parts store for same parts....

Getting down is easy, I can fall down. Getting up has turned very difficult. My wife and I found a handy thing at the hardware store. Itt's a folding knee board that when flipped over makes a handy seat. Whenever I work on anything I have it near me to aid getting up. My upper body strength is still good, my legs are wrecked. With this gadget I can pop up like the Energizer bunny.

Like this @wundudnee ? I've had one of these for at least 20 years and they are the Bee's Knee's for a lot of stooping work!

That's it. I highly recommend it for all my old broken down friends. :)
