Joe Kidd Firearms Question-
I recognize the Broomhandle Mauser that gets quite a bit of play in the movie. (Watching it now.) What is the large caliber scoped rifle Robert Duvall's Long Range shooter uses? I don't recognize it.
Everyone else is sporting SAA's or Win 94's.
With the one exception, when Joe Kidd (Clint Eastwood) shoots the long range shooter, later in the movie.
*Coincidentally that scene is on, right now.

Best I can remember, there was a Savage 99 in the movie.

Yeah, I saw/recognized a Savage 99. That was Robert Duvall's weapon. (If I recall correctly.) Joe Kidd opened a case and assembled a Remington 700 type bolt action with an old school long tube scope, to shoot Robert Duvall's Long Range shooter. Who had shot 2-3 guys at long range, from a ridgetop. Arrogantly kneeling in plain view. Clint picked him off with one shot, after assembling his rifle.
The bore of the rifle I am talking about, in the OP, is Huge. (Like .50 cal huge.)
It had a large exposed 4" tubular (Button type) magazine.

Thanks, Gary. I will have to look it up.
Early in the movie, it is pictured muzzle forward prominently, when he was hiding behind a rock. It looked like a Cannon.

according to google clints takedown was a ross 280 sporter takedown model, and best guess was remington Keen in 45--70 for mingo.........

I was thinking 45-70, for mingo. The throat/muzzle on that firearm was huge.
