The Department of Justice on Thursday filed new criminal charges against President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, accusing him of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes while spending millions of dollars on a lavish lifestyle.
Now a question for the legal types on board: How come they're bringing the charges in California? Next, how is it decided where to bring federal charges? I thought it was where the alleged crimes were committed?

Floating theory is, Hunter will use this as an excuse to plead the 5th during his manadated congressional hearing.
Im 100% sure there is a nefarious reason for Commiefornia bringing those charges.

"Charged" a meaningless word unless followed by "Convicted".
He is a DEMOCRAT and Joe Biden's son. Courts in CA stacked with partisan activists. If anything more than a slap on the wrist I would be shocked.

Charged with 3 Felonies, out of 9 counts. The Felonies being Tax Evasion and Tax Fraud (making fraudulent statements.) Incl. fraudulently taking false Business Deductions, ($387,000 for "Travel, etc.) in order to evade Taxes.
Evaded $1.4 Million in Taxes after making $7 Million. He was Stupid enough to say in his book, what he was actually spending his money on. One of his comments, "Taxes...............Ugghh."

Why bring the charges in California? newsom's gonna use the body to stand on for his soap box for the eventual run for the white house.
Also will hunter roll over on his pops to avoid prison time? If the courts get to this quick enough while biden is still the president he'll skate on the charges, too.

Hunter Biden was not charged or accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was accused of lying on the federal form 4473 when he swore that he was not addicted to illegal drugs.

Hunter Biden made California his residence in 2018 and from what I can tell still lives there. So that would be why the CA venue for the suit, HPD.

Personally I do not believe little Hunter should be charged with this Federal Firearms related crime, nor do I believe Ms. Taylor should be charged with this Federal Firearms related crime. Recreational use of pot being should not disable a person from a natural right any more than recreational use of alcohol or broccoli.
It is a stupid law and should be removed from the Form 4473.

That was Hunter's drug of choice, not pot. (That was why he was thrown out of the Navy, went to various re-habs etc.)
*The info I posted about Hunter as a "Felon in possesion of a Firearm," was due to erronious reporting by CNN, the other day. (1st time I had heard it.) I have edited/deleted that from my posts above, since I learned here, that it was not accurate.
