Got to look at one of the new Ruger Marlins
Yesterday at my gunshop. I must say it was very nice in all aspects. Looked like it was built in the 60's. Perfect fit, blue great and a nice piece of wood. Just fyi.

I haven't had my hands on one yet, good to know that Ruger has restored the quality that Remington neglected to maintain.

I watched a review of one the other day on YouTube which included a range test. The guy gave it a five star rating including fit and finish. It was a stainless guide gun chambered in 45/70, nice looking rifle.

Very nice to know. My neighbor bought some flavor of an 1895 four years or so ago. Cheesy is giving it a good rating. Hopefully they bring back the 1895 cowboy.

I haven't seen one in person yet but what I have seen on line and reviews they look good. The only drawback I see is they are priced kind of high but then again everything is outrageous now. I would like to have one but don't really need one and can't really justify spending the money for one.

I have handled a couple at our LGS and can attest to their outstanding quality.

Either Recoil or Firearm News, (neither of which always give positive reviews,) rated the SS 45/70 Guide Gun, as "The Best Lever Gun, Ever Made." (About 6 mo. back.)

I bought a new Marlin stainless guide gun in 45/70 with a great looking laminated stock about 15 years ago and sold after I got clocked in the nose from a bad shoulder positioning. To be fair to myself, it was a bit shorter pull than I'm used to. My bad.
A huge mistake, and wish I had it back. I was a dealer back then, and IIRC, I paid around $540 for it.
I'm glad Ruger picked up the line rather than some of the other manufacturers out there.

Thanks for the review. The Rugers we own have served us very well.

Last time I looked and held one was 10 (?) years ago when it was a Remlin...and it was awful.

Well, they ought to be nice, because they sure cost a pretty penny!
I am glad to see Ruger taking over and doing them right. Just doubt I'll drop $1500+ on one. Before Marlin got sold off and the quality tanked, you could get a 30-30 for under $400.

So no silly safeties? What's that hammer slidy safety thingy?

I have a Davidson's limited edition Marlin SDG (number 27 of 501). Bought it on the auction side some years ago for around $700. - $750. NIB, never been fired.
I did a safety delete and added the saddle ring (from Beartooth Mercantile).
