I would not want to be on the committee this year.

I can see, with their starting qb out, that FSU could be knocked off of this list in place of bama which I think would be a travesty.

Texas beat Alabama in the regular season. Georgia went 12-0 in the regular season, but was beat by Alabama in the SEC championship. Bama has had a relatively easy schedule this year. Only beat Arkansas by 3. Arkansas finished 4-8.

Ohio has lost only one game which was against Michigan who is 13-0. Michigan was playing with a chip on their shoulder since Harbaugh was suspended at that time.

Oregon has been beat twice, both times by Washington. Also, not a hard schedule.

NIL is leveling the playing field for many teams. Expanded playoffs next year will really make for a great end of season bowl schedule.

The powers-to-be a few years back totally screw college football playoffs up knowing it was possible for 1 team to not get in and they ignored that possibility, well now it's sitting in their lap....."what will we do and what school will we hurt". Just because you have a big education and brains don't mean you're smart. 🙄

    Follow the money.

Totally. The NCAA is addicted to tv money. The tv network controlled that.

more folks will tune it to see Bama/SEC than FSU

Well fooey! I'd much rather see Michigan playing Florida. I don't much like Saban but his Alabama boys will be tough to beat. I think Texas will beat Washington but for me the other game is to close to call. Bob

Bama won the SEC championship game yesterday against an injured GA team. Their QB was hurt is the only reason Bama won. I agree FSU got hosed.

Saban always gets his weasely butt into the playoffs. All about the $$. Viewers watch because they are Bama fans or want to see Bama get beat. Love them or hate them, they bring in the dollars.

They got it right. I believe it should be the four best teams, not whether they win their conference or went undefeated. Florida state could not beat Alabama, Texas, Georgia or Ohio State right now. A few weeks ago maybe but not right now when it matters.

So you're saying the season record doesn't matter, I say they earned a playoff spot even more so since their QB went down, proving that their program is working, remember it's a team effort, not just 1 player. Baseball has fallen into this same trap, no longer the teams with the best record during the season plays for the WS Championship. Play-off games are played on;y for money now. Let me add, I have no Bulldogs in this fight but this is wrong for FS.

That is exactly what I am saying - the four best teams at the moment should be playing. How good you were a month or two months ago should not have any bearing on anything. It is about how good you are now and if you are down to your third string quarterback, well just them a hooray and good season but that is all they deserve. Why deny a better team the chance to possibly win just to make a weaker team feel good.

Last week FSU beat Florida with their second string QB and then, with only a week to prepare, they got their third string QB prepared and beat #15 Louisville and won the ACC championship. That is a team playing good ball

Beat Florida? Florida lost 6 of their last 8 games - heck, even my Razorbacks beat them….lol

I choose Bama. Mainly in memory/ honor of a life long friend

My point is FSU is a great team. Even when they lose their starting QB they win whether it is with their second string or their third string.

By using your above ^ theory if Florida had gotten hot and won their last 2 games they would qualify for the playoffs....I don't think so. 😀 It shouldn't work that way.

I know Michigan is ecstatic they are playing Alabama instead of Florida State….yeah right.

This post is starting to sound all too familiar. The hate for someone who is successful is over riding the reality that the person (or team) is better than another choice.

I'm pretty sure I comprehended this post very well, it'd be interesting to hear how others comprehend it and post their thoughts. At this point in time it really doesn't matter, it's a done deal. I''m not a FSU fan but firmly believe they were done wrong under this system of choosing.

I must agree with neacpa. It has to do with the criteria of the selection committee. Conference championships, won/loss record, and strength of schedule are perhaps foremost in the minds of fans but the purpose of the committee is to determine who are the best four teams as of Sunday morning.

This is the last year for 4 team playoffs. Next year it expands to 12 teams. Of course there will be hurt feelings on the part of #13. Bob

If FSU played in the SEC conference they would not be undefeated. Top to bottom the SEC is the best football conference in the nation.

Odds are Washington and Michigan would not be undefeated either.
