Not One but Two ,,,,,,,
,,,,,,, lions !!
Over at a buddies sawmill yesterday and noticed his horse corral panels were scattered and bent.
At daybreak he looked out his kitchen window and two mountain lions were standing near his cattle sheds. The cattle had run through the wire fence and were a half mile down the road. The horses were running to the far end of the pasture.
His house/mill is on the edge of town with several neighbors within a quarter mile or less. His neighbor, across the road, had six sheep laying dead in the pasture.
I’ve never known of a lion killing more than a single animal at a time. Maybe two young ones doing it for the chase/thrill.

Wow. I didn't think they killed for sport.

Bill,
To me, that’s exactly what it sounds like, youngsters.
He’s lucky them horses don’t have rake marks from shoulder to hip or worse.

Makes me wonder if there was a few coyotes involved. They can do that kind of killing with sheep.

Scary to think of what could happen

No cats here. I have seen packs of dogs do as you described. But from my limited knowledge of them , I would agree it sounds like a " spree hunting" behavior

I like to think I know a little about animal behavior but will readily concede I know nothing about mountain lions.
Having said that, I have no idea what but something doesn't sound right about this to me.

I can imagine mama cat saying "now you" to the cub.
