That's a good time, right there! Just the ride in and back out would have been fun.

Ride in was nice, but we rode out after dark and pretty good snow squall blew in and visibility from the snow and clouds in the trees was bad, the first 15 miles, 20/22 mph was top speed, any faster and you were overdriving the lights.

We won’t go back in again until March, hopefully the top will have tightened up and the slush monster will be gone.

i enjoy this lake as there is zero phone service/ signal 4 miles after you depart the trailhead. Drives my wife nuts when I go in there alone. She feels much better when the boys go with.

Is the Big Arm hard topped and people fishing it?

I haven't been down that way for months so don't know what goin' on in the Big Arm. Smith Lake looks like it's crawlin' with folks. Lots of little pike and perch in there. I think a fella could rustle up a pretty fair sized fish fry in short order down there.

If I come that way for hard water action, it will be for fork tailed Lake trout “Mack’s “.

Gotta perch trip planned shortly for Cascade lake near McCall Idaho , hope to have some interesting photos from that outing,.

Susie , my grandsons and a granddaughter have gotten to experience fishing spots via horse/ mule back and snow machine trips far beyond their years because I took them into places at early ages that many people just don’t go because of riding distance, terrain, etc.

They, just as I did, won’t appreciate this until after I am gone and they will then look back and see how lucky they really were to have a Grandfather that liked the mountains better than he did the general public.
