He pointed a gun at her and pulled the trigger. Farthest thing from involuntary I can think of.

He's a democrat. That's why the prosecutor dropped it. Nothing ever happens to a democrat.

A grand jury has indicted Alec Baldwin on an involuntary manslaughter charge in the deadly shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico set of "Rust," months after prosecutors dropped their case against the actor over her death.

I think it is not uncommon in movies and TV shows. I have even seen actors do it myself.

While I agree alec should be found guilty and spend time, I just don't see that happening. It isn't that I don't believe in our court system but lately I question it. I also don't understand why the newbe armorer isn't charged also. It's her job to offer safe firearms to actors. She is at least negligent.

    She died at his hand.

Well, he'll walk after a good dog and pony show and if by some miracle he is found guilty of some bogus reduced charge, he will get sixty days at the Hilton with no room service as a punishment.

BTW, the charge is spot on in my opinion. He didn't intend to kill her but she is still dead by his hand. Someone has to pay and his finger was on the trigger.

Totally agree. Even though Baldwin is a dimwit that knows nothing about firearms and safety, that doesn't make him unaccountable for what happened. He and the armorer were reckless and negligent and someone lost their life because of them.

Smart Aleck Baldwin says he did not pull the trigger.

That gun is possessed and fired itself. Truer words were never spoken by a Democrat. Always not their fault.

    What a jerk.

Gutierrez-Reed faces involuntary manslaughter and evidence tampering charges related to the “Rust” shooting.

Prosecutors claimed Gutierrez-Reed, as the set armorer, was responsible for the safety of the firearm and the set.

Gutierrez-Reed posted this self portrait online several years ago.

I know Baldwin is a Lib nutcake. But I watched Hunt for Red October last week, and he was great in that role.

I want to know what the forensic folk’s criteria was/is for determining the trigger had to be pulled for the gun to discharge.

If the sear or hammer hook was altered to create a ‘hair trigger’ to enhance trigger pull, that could be another reason the gun was unsafe. If so, the hammer could have been ‘over cocked’ and as stated, “I released the hammer and the gun went off”. Witch means he could have let his thumb ‘slide’ off the hammer and fall on an altered sear, causing the gun to discharge.

Regardless, sounds like the entire production was a tragic comedy of errors.

I would bet that weekend they were shooting at Truly cans over the hill and somehow a round was left in the gun. When they get ready to film the armoror ( ha) just forgot to shake every round ( her father made ) ….

it was all fun until an evil gun decided to kill someone…

I believe that AB won’t do any time, odds are one in 12 will refuse to hold him accountable

I’m still baffled on as to where the live round came from and how did it get into the pistol in the first place. I don’t like Baldwin, but there are several angles from which to look at this case. As far as him saying he didn’t pull the trigger, that is false, he had to have pulled the trigger. Who loaded the gun and handled the blanks? To me that is where the fault rests. If someone intentionally placed a live round in the pistol then that would be murder not manslaughter.

I hope they know if he walks it will open the door for so many others to claim the same defense. Its going to be hard for them to say "he wasn't at fault" when it was 100% under his control when she was killed. I don't care the circumstances, you shot someone....the laws do not say "unless you are a movie star" anywhere and he needs to be punished in some way so all the actors handling firearms from this point forward take personal responsibility and LEARN A THING OR TWO before pointing things and pulling the trigger.

I'm still waiting for the "I didn't know it was loaded" excuse.

"Unloaded" firearms kill way more than loaded ones in a situation like this.

Who presented the charge to the grand jury to go forward ?? Isn't that the prosecutors job to do that ?....but they dropped the case, I'm totally missing something here.

Baldwin along with several others of his caliber said they were leaving the United States if Trump were elected in 2016 which would have been great for the U.S. but none left I bet now he wish's he would have left. Terrill

Have you seen the video of Baldwin practicing with that SAA Colt? As he pulls it up, and waves it around, his finger is wrapped around the trigger the entire time. His statement that he did not pull the trigger, just pulled back the hammer is probably correct because he already had the trigger pulled all the way back. Do that, and them pull back and release the hammer and the gun fires. Been that way for 150 years or more.

  • mstrblaster

So this leaves a big open door for any criminal to say their "friend/partner/brother/mom/dad/gun shop" was supposed to have loaded the gun for them with blanks.....so it was not their fault! What a bunch of crap. Anyone hands someone/anyone a gun, they should check it.

I said it before. We all make mistakes I would have respect for him if he had been a man and owned up to his actions. But blaming the gun shows what a coward he is.

I did some research on this and found only prosecutors can bring charges before a grand jury, yet it's also being reported that the prosecutors have dropped the charges against Baldwin even before the grand jury has indicted him. Something fishy is going on in the back rooms of the courthouse that we don't know about, maybe a political fix is in, making sure the case is dead as in "case closed"...forever.
