Thankful we still have power and heat. Many in surrounding areas were without.
Only problem facing, is truck won't start. Drained down battery, but got it on the charger.
...oh it's 30 below, truck won't start, I'm off to the rodeoooo,, ,,

Same with my truck, Joe. It clicked, and you could hear the fuel pump doing its thing, and that's about it. Shifter was pretty gummy too. Should've switched the transmission over to synthetic fluid long ago. Come to find out the block heater is kaput also.

Hang tuff Joe, your used to that stuff... Was out staring both tractors, trucks and letting run to make sure they survive our little cold blast for the next couple of days, all still started except the riding mower, started then died (think I flooded the carb) oh well that's why I have a battery charger after it is over, took My older truck the 95 F250 down to the store and barely got it back home,,, need to figure it out just started to act like no power and engine died, wasn't over heated according to the gauges, but let it sit for 5 minutes and would then run for another 5-10 minutes and then same again, got it to the house and will figure it out later this week after the cold goes away. Stay safe my friend.

Going to be below zero until mid week here in scenic Lizton, IN. Years ago I bought trickle chargers for the tractor, mower, ATV, and brush cutter. They have been a good investment. Even the little mower & ATV batteries are well over $100.00 now days. So far the truck (gas) hasn't been a problem. I have plenty of firewood and made a beer run today. Bring it on mothanature.

Having a jump starter pack, and or battery Charger with the jump start Boost mode are great things to have
I remember when I was much young feels like a life time ago.
My dad did it for years and got me in the habit he was big on never missing work for any reason
In the really cold days of winter he and then i would get up every few hours and start the car or truck let it run and get warm
the only option back then to make sure .One of the things my dad passed on was a good work ethic about being there on time
We did every winter when it really got cold . As then we knew it would start In a couple hours so we could get to work .
We had neighbors who did the same old cars old battery's

Going to get down to 15° below tonight in west central Illinois. With the wind blowing we have some deep drifts. I’ll have to get the tractor out after the winds die down account of I don’t have a cab on the tractor. Got the generator ready case we would loose power, and plenty of gas.
Been going through winters while living in the country 50 years now, just part of things you have to prepare for I guess. But all things given I’d rather be laying on the beach in Jamaica drinking rum.

was -24 here too this morning, my routine has lessened from hermit to recluse mode. no need to get outside. no desire to do much of anything other than venture from computer/tv/media to coffee pot to bathroom to bed. naps are good.

Wooo Hooo, got the truck started.
It's about 15 degrees warmer today than yesterday. Put battery charger on for two hours. Just went out and she fired up.

This cold has left no make or model unaffected. Local social media is flooded with what do I do post from college students and folks new to here.
They have/had no clue.

Glad you got it going, Joe. The radiator hose heater would be a good investment. Had one in my tractor for years and it worked great! Just gotta remember to plug it in!

You guys have synthetic oil in your engines, right? Same with manual transmissions and differentials, right? In today's world one is plumb nuts if they're not running synthetic oils, IMO. Especially in extremely hot or cold climates.

Battery has several hard winters on it. Told wife today, that if it last into spring / summer it should be replaced.
Wife just looked it up, battery put in Oct. 2017.

One trick my in-laws who lived for years in norther Minnesota taught me was to turn the headlights on for a bit before trying to start up the engine. It will actually warm the battery juices enough to crank, sometimes anyway.
