I made the leap!

I ordered up a Starlink satellite internet system yesterday. It's supposed to arrive sometime this coming week. When it gets here I'll need to go to town and rent some scaffolding to get it mounted up on a gable peak. It's gotta be better than the service we have now. Our download speeds are barely over 2.2 and upload is less than 0.5. I guess we'll see if ol' Elon knows his stuff or not...

    I'll be interested in your results. My Centurylink, or whatever they are called now, service is about the same as your current speeds. I'll be most interested in how well it works during storms and heavy cloud cover. I have DISH network and during bad weather the dependability is kind of iffy at best. Keep us posted. Bob

    I also have DISH and the only time I've had trouble is when I get a buildup of ice/snow on the dish. Usually a quick pass with a broom makes it start working again. I've never had issues with clouds or rain.

    The Starlink dish has a built in ice melting device to help keep it clear and is rated to perform down to -22 degrees. The coldest we've had here is -29 for one night last year.

    You will be amazed. I lived with Direct TV and Hughes Net for twenty years. Starlink paid for itself

    the first year.

    several years abck befroe it got so big my wife and I talked about it

    but now days even our slow part time non working service is doing ok no more than we really use it
