    Weelllll...

Sunsets everywhere are pretty spectacular. The chief determinants are the scenery and cloud cover. It is a fact, however, that sunsets now are more spectacular than they were long ago, due largely to pollutants in the air which reflect and refract more light.

I do love a sunset!!! When the fires in Africa were making the sunsets an amazing pink all the way over here in Alabama I realized this planet isn't as big as I once though it was.

Someone posted this one of Hunstville yesterday....

    Yep.

And this one was a little other worldly.

    A touch more blue.

Sunsets are spectacular no matter where you hang your hat if you have a good view of the western sky and the right ingredients to make the palette. The last pic is what my grandson calls the elephant tree.

I would rather see a new sunrise, at my age that means at least one more day to go........

Sunrise at my house isn't as spectacular, mainly because I have almost 1,000 feet of rock between me and the horizon. If official sunrise is at 7:00, I don't see the sun until sometime between 8 and 9, depending on the time of year.

But looking west, I'm several hundred feet above the valley floor, and I swear sometimes I can see all the way to Nevada. Can't obviously, the earth being a globe, but it's a view of 50 miles or so.

Not as colorful, but artistic I think: South Padre Island, Texas...

I have traveled all over the USA (except Alaska) and I also think that the Arizona desert has the most spectacular sun sets on a regular basis however, Florida's are pretty spectacular too.

Anyone that has been to Santorini will politely remain silent but will smile and maybe slightly roll their eyes.

    Kind of hard not to
