Mossberg Shockwave anyone?
It's a cool looking firearm. Mossberg has a reputation for making good stuff, too.
But has anyone used it? Do any of you own one? If so, what do you think of it?

Back about 40 some years I had the Moss 500 riot shotgun (short barrel, pistol grip). At times of 'escape' emergency recall I would grab my .357 in shoulder holster and my moss 500 and head out the door to recall.

I dont own one, but have handled and shot one. I do like the shockwave! Nice quality to $ ratio and no reliability issues.

Never fired one but it looks like a wrist breaker to me.

I have owned one for over 4 years... Not a wrist breaker at all. It is easier to shoot than the other pistol gripped shotguns I have fired over the years. I have fired a few hundred rounds of various loads through it without any issues.

They are fun to shoot. In a defensive situation I want a stock on my shoulder.

I have an 870 tac-14. I don't know why I have it, but I do.

I have a Mossy 500 (I think) 20 gauge youth model that because of how light it is, is my go to shotgun defensive weapon.
A stroke, bad shoulders and weak hands change the way you view your defensive weapons.
This isn't a Shockwave but a review of the Mossberg brand. If your Shockwave is as well made as my little youth model you have a nice shotgun.

Years ago i bought a Winchester 1200 Defender with an 18" barrel and a 90 degree pistol grip. Yep, it only took one shot to learn that you had to hold it chest high, with the pistol grip, to avoid wrist pain. Soooo, I carved & attached a grip similar to the Mossberg's. Works fine.
And Dreher, the youth 20s make a good house gun.

i have 2 12, 2 20g 1, 410 basicly recreation of the feds witness protection item they were the go to during pandemic ,every one now wanted a 9mm and a blow you out the door shotgun, the legal 14 inch anyone can own👍️

Wanted one but I can only get the "California" version. Basically the Mossberg "Cruiser" with the bird's head grip. So it went under why bother. That reminds me I recall one could "shoulder" the Cruiser but not this one.

Biggest difference is that its made so that you can not put a pistol grip on it. Something about how it was made. Because it started out as a new receiver to make it shorter than the cruiser.

You could attach a standard butt but if a smart cop/DA looked at serial number it would come up as produced as the bird head shotgun with 14 barrel but it is the go to get out of here item

my neighbor has the shockwave 590S version of the non shotgun shotgun and he has put a lot of the short 1/34" ? shells through it with zero problems and little to no recoil. He says it hits what he aims at and so far 100% with all standard shotshells too .

A pistol grip can be installed as long as the overall length is not under 26". A verticle fore end can also be installed on a firearm.

The Shockwave was designated as a "Firearm" Not as a pistol, rifle or shotgun. It was my understanding at the time I purchased it, the grip it was manufactured with keeps the designation as a "Firearm" If it is replaced with a different style grip, it becomes a shotgun with a barrel length under 18" and is thus an NFA item.
As ATF rules get rewritten from time to time that may not be true at this point, but that was my understanding when they first came out... My understanding of the rules may be outdated.

I have had my 12 gauge shockwave for 3 years. I do prefer target loads vs full power ammo. As many people have said , you must aim the firearm to be on target and effective. Lots of fun to shoot. My 870 is my go to gun for defense purposes.
