My first year as Single status. Miss my sweetheart Diane and the Married filing jointly status.

Standard deduction Single with 1 box checked $15,700

Standard deduction Married filing jointly with 2 boxes checked $30,700

$15,000 difference. I got hammered pretty good. Will increase my withholding next week.

  Got a nastygram from the friendly folks that I hadn't paid my estimated taxes. Took it and list of dates checks had cleared bank to tax feller. See what happens 🙄
