    I feel your frustration.

I could not image living in a blue state that hates guns and gun owners but panders to crooks

I thought the Supreme court ruled tax is also consider violation of gun owners rights not the blue states care what the SCOTUS says any way

I have always been fortunate with FFL I have a long term buddy had his FFL since 1975 and my youngest son and a nephew got there years ago , s ono transfer frees ( I still give them money by the way )

the last "guns " I bought were just receivers to build on and that was some years back

maybe just me I think the pot is boiling in many places around the country on so many issues and rights being pushed to the limits and may just have to release steam at some point down the road

I feel like I'm supposed to say you're welcomed for the California style ammo purchase?

My local FFL has the "special" internet transfer fee but I understand they need to eat, etc and I don't have the patience to wait until something I like to walk in so I chalk that up as a wash.

I reckon like California your state don't need the tax money from gun shops. But the state will jack up the rates like "sin tax" for us suckers.

Yosh, you might ask if they will waive the extra fee if it isn't something they sell. I used to go to a place that would charge $50 on a purchase elsewhere of something they had in stock, or could order (new), but only $25 for everything else. They later changed owners and that went to $50 across the board. So, one of our late members here (IMACLONE2) told me about this little pawn shop that did $10 transfers so I switched. I've actually never been back to that other place. I don't know if they are still around but I'd wager they are not.

It has been a long time since I worked in a gun shop, but I don't think that $50 is overly harsh for a transfer fee. Considering the paperwork they have to do on that "sale" now and down the line plus the worry of making even a minor error that's caught in their next BATFE inspection.

Much of New York State isn't all that bad. Problem is that the Albany - NYC mob shoves everything down the rest of the state's throats.

I agree with you, @truthful . It isn't ALL the people of New York that are the problem. I know some great folks from New York and they are outraged by the way the state is governed. Good people still live there. But, New York governance wont stop until they are all removed and the only thing left are peasants giving tribute to NYC.

bambihunter  - I subtract the cost of transfer in the purchase. Cost of doing business. They get to eat hot dogs. Oh hot dogs are crazy prices these days. What used to cost like a buck for a pack (when on sale) is now like $4. a pack) them lips and sphinkter holes ain't cheap. Thanks bidenomics. Where was I? I don't blame the FFL for keeping the lights on. If they weren't here I would be screwed. Since I would have to travel to do transfers.

Picked up my receiver yesterday. Joe has been my FFL dealer and friend for years. He is a retired LEO and was a guard at a gated community for years also. Told me he was sorry to raise transfer fee. Really not his fault.

Still just one form 4473 but has a block for number that NY State Criminal Justice gives him. State then calls NCIS and they call back NY State and State gives my FFL the go ahead. Could take half hour or days. State requires Joe's CC number so they can bill him $9 for each transfer. Took NY State 10 years to institute Ammo Background check. Cost $2.50 every time you buy Ammo.

Even thought this is all administered by Supt. of State Police (criminal justice system) you know darn well no State Trooper is sitting down doing data entry! The Dummycrats in Albany are just the middlemen and their cronies are probably getting bare minimum to do data entry. They want the Power/Money even though they don't like our Evil Guns.

The SSN on 4473 is optional but NY State wants it to get the ball rolling. I am not at alll happy about this but need to research further.

I remember when I could walk in Russels Garage/ General Store in Mineral. Virginia and buy a half a box of 20ga shells at 10/12 years old to go rabbit hunting with dad.

i also remember breaking a 37 Winchester over my shoulder and riding to the National Guard Armory for a turkey shoot at about 15 I guess on my bike. Course my dog Zero ran beside me to protect me in the shotgun position. God help us all. -----------------------------Ray

I picked up a Stevens 520 shotgun today from an auction in sw Va. NO transfer fee & they ATE the $2 back ground check. Sat there with a local LEO while WE waited (10 min) and he was pro 2A+. 🙂

They are killing alot of geese. Businesses are fleeing NY due to their regulations. Their bogus $350 million judgement against Trump just serves notice to other businesses they need to leave. I sympathize after being born in NY, and Raised in MA. I've been in the south for 35 years now, in a purple state. We are planning our evacuation for when the Dems seize the governor's mansion in a couple years. This is thanks to all the NY'ers and NJ folks moving down here bringing their political insanity with them.

Most of us LEO in SW VA are conservatives/libertarians with strong 2A views. You won't see much enforcement of an AWB out in our area, especially from Sheriff's Offices.

@shilowar Haven't heard from you in a while & I was was wondering how you are doing. Like you I'm seeing more & more liberal idealists. Covid gave us a big boom when they fled the cities around DC.

Shilowar, good to see you are alive and kicking. I am a Native Son of Virginia. I promise if I ever make it back to Virginia before I kick off, I won't bring any NY Political Insanity with me. --------Ray
