That is terrible.....it has to be a shock to have that happen. Try to take things as slowly as possible...people will take advantage of your state of mind if they can

Man, that's a load of bad luck right there, really glad the ceiling falling didn't do you in and you're OK. Tornado's, hurricanes & floods are very dangerous.....and destructive, I've experienced each quite a few times in my life. Hopefully many prayers are coming your way, take them, you'll need'em.

How do people sleep or just lie down when something like this happens?

When I try, I start shaking like I am going into shock.

I am not qualified to give advice or even take care of my self some days lol so conside this just small talk to have a space to vent

But just a wild guess i will bet your town or even insurance company has peopl or groups trained to help you thru this like the red cros ? be it mental , stress, financial , places to say food shelter clothing what ever it takes to help get you organized.

I will wager you are working on some of this with your family

I don't sleep very well and I know many onhere stay up for lots of reasons and if noting else will give you a outlet to post On here

I guess focus your still alive and mostly unhurt

    Our thoughts are with you

I am standing guard tonight. People have been showing up saying they want to do an appraisal and look inside the house. I think they were mainly checking to see if it was occupied and if they could steal anything.

The ceiling hit me in the head and I can barely walk now. The ambulance said it was not to bad. It looks bad. I cannot feel anything. My whole body is numb.

I think I just need to vent/release stress and know that I am not alone.

I called the county police and requested extra attention to the area. He stopped by and talked. Nice guy with a very difficult job. He was a big former Marine that never stopped being a Marine. I wanted him to drive up and down the street with his flashers on. He said that he could not do that as it may cause a panic. The fire department and other agencies can do it.

    Everything is closed until Monday.

I cannot go to an emergency room. It might be $10000 for a visit. I may have lost everything that I saved and collected my entire life in one morning.

I cannot drive at night anymore either.

I hope you have a close friend or family members that can help you out

I can not image loosing every thing and being alone to face it

I also Hope some one else jumps in on the conversation to keep you mind busy

As for me I have to try and get to bed now I have been up way too long but that's normal for me

i do hope you can find a place to feel safe and try and get some rest also

ROY222...I was a residential/Commercial Insurance Adjuster for 25+ years....CALL your Ins. Co. immediately , as their adjusters may very well be swamped, so get in line early...IF it was a large area effected they will send in "Storm Troopers", Adjusters from surrounding areas & even from other states to handle claims as quickly as possible, yes, Ins Co's have "Disaster Teams"...probably get you put up in a Hotel & take care of everything the best they can...sorry to hear, but most things can be replaced...you'll get thru this hang in there...luck...

They should have a curfew in the area....they should also have all the roads BLOCKED that lead into the area with only residents being allowed in. WHY is someone able to drive around in this area???? You should call the chief of police and tell him they should have the area blocked off at the very least, so the patrol guys can keep watch on things more easily.

    @ROY222 :

I can't offer any professional advice, but I (and a lot of others here) know what its like to deal with tragedy and loss. Step 1 is "don't panic". Yeah, it looks bleak and you're hurting and it's hard to see a positive end. But there will be a positive end.

Take special care of your mental and emotional states. I know it isn't easy, but little steps will help. Steps so small they seem insignificant. All it takes is one little victory, no matter how small, to set yourself up for another and another and another. After a while, those little wins add up and you're making progress almost out of habit.

Secure the things that are important to you, the things that can't be replaced, and the things that you will need for the next week or two. The rest will work out as long as you're positive and focused.

You can do this. You can get thru this.

You folks might want to actually check the news from Louisville. The CBS station there has zero mention of tornadoes in today's news.

@ROY222 have you called your insurance companies 24/7 number yet? They should get you immediate help. In one way or another. Also get yourself to the local urgent care.... I will continue to pray that the Lord supplies all your needs.

ROY222....Don't let anyone that just "shows up", onto your property...anyone that just "shows up" w/o an appt. with you and wants to walk thru & give you an appraisal or ANYTHING, don't bother even dealing with them, tell them NO your waiting on YOUR Ins. adjuster to show up, YOU are the one that has to contact your Adjuster...I'd grab any personal items you can and leave everything else as is.... again, best & believe it or not, it will get better, prayers sent your way....
