Auction Side Payment Question.
I’ve been watching an auction I’m interested in, but the only payment it looks like they except is what is called an escrow payment. I know what escrow is but never heard of excepting escrow only. How does that work?

I got a response from seller. He says his bank won’t except money orders or cashiers checks of any kind account of fraud. The escrow is something called gun tab. I never heard of them.

What kind of bank is that? GEEZ, mine runs them through and can tell instantly if the USPS M.O is real. And they accept cashiers checks and personal checks. It's a BANK, for goodness sakes. I don't know Guntab, but who knows. Be careful.

First - I did a "Duck - Duck - Go" search and "Gun Tab" advertises themselves as "The PayPal For Guns" --- "Recommended by 500+ individuals and FFLs".
Next - What, they don't have a post office in that town??? Put a USPS money order on the counter and watch what happens - or for that matter at "First Federal Bank of Florida" or "VyStar Credit Union". In addition - if you go to one of the representatives/agents of either of them - not the teller window - they can clear a certified or even a personal check in less than 5 minutes.
Do as you like - but I would be careful as "grasshopper" suggested.

I found a good writeup of GunTab on another forum. Not sure if I should post it or link to it here, though.
Summary: they're legit.

He needs a new bank. I like to use personal checks you don't have to sell to me but someone else will.

+1 just use a personal check. I despise adding another app, especially with linked accounts

Never heard of a Post Office that would not cash a USPS Money Order. About five years ago took kind of large M/O to Kents Store, Virginia and they did not have enough cash to cover it. Small Vol Fire/Rescue Squad and P/O nothing else. Blink your eye and you are thru Kents Store. Told me to come back after 3PM and they had my money that they got from a larger P/O. -----------------------------Ray
