Toby Keith RIP
Toby Keith passed away yesterday due to stomach cancer.
He had written and recorded some of my favorite songs including some of the first most patriotic and rousing ones that was recorded right after 911 including "Courtesy of the Red White and Blue" and "American Soldier"
May he Rest In Peace with a red cup in his hand and holding proudly the American flag.

Our loss, Heaven's gain.
One of the best.
Critics made fun of him when he first started singing the "Toby" style music.
Pretty sure, How do you like me now, was written and sung for them.
Saw him live a few time, all great shows.

A favorite of the many GIs who served in Southwest Asia and later. His patriotic music resonated thru many camps during deployments and barracks. I know, I served. God bless Toby Keith.

I did have this feeling that when Toby sang at the CMA he was telling us he would be leaving this earth... Don't let the old man in....

No disrespect to you or Toby (I am a fan of his) but he was born in 1961 and first song was in 1993... He did many patriotic songs that many of us that served have enjoyed, but he wasn't heard in any barrack during what most would think of as the Southwest Asia time frame... post 911 he has been very popular with the troops.

It's a lot easier to describe time-wise, Desert Storm or Desert Shield. A bit confusing but that helps clear up any time element envolved in that particular region.

I’ll never smoke weed with Willie again. Is a fun song.
we saw him back in the mid nineties when he was opening for Sawyer Brown.
RIP sir

Southwest Asia is not commonly called Southwest Asia…..but is most often referred to as the Middle East.

I'll put him shoulder to shoulder with Charlie Daniels, another great patriot entertainer.....now both are gone 😢, who's going to fill their shoes ??

On the other hand, he was he one who "discovered" Trailer Swifty. So he's to blame for that.

There is a cool story behind that song. I love the line in it "how old would be if you didn't know the day you were born". I've felt much older than my age ever since blowing out my back at the age of 23.

I live in the country outside of the OKC metro area. Toby Keith was from and I believe still resided in Moore Oklahoma. Many of the area's flags are at half-mast. Along with his patriotic songs and singing to the troops, he has contributed heavily during tornadoes and other such events here in Oklahoma.

I would have known, we could have met for lunch or something. I'm always up for meeting members in person, though most I have met at the Tulsa Gun show.
