The Day the Music Died
February 3, 1959, 65 years ago today, was the day that Richie Vallens, Buddy Holly, and J.P. Richardson (the "Big Bopper") died in a small plane crash during an Iowa snow storm. Waylon Jennings, a young bass player at the time, gave up his seat on the plane to Richardson who was ill and instead rode to fame in the unheated tour bus.

I remember the shocked reports. It was almost as tearful as JFK.

Happened about five years before me. But, I always liked the song American Pie by Don McLean

Read an article on ittoday . Pilot did not have instrument ratings in that type of plane . Theory is he had a controlled flight into the ground.

I was just about two years old
its sill a sad event but a lot of bands have lost some or all members in plane crashes.
the last few minutes of their life's ( well any on in that situation ) has to be terrifying knowing you have zero control and going to die
