Delivery drivers....how did it get this crazy....
We have FedEx pickups here three days a week....both ground and express come those days.
I don't know how many other FedEx trucks show up, but they deliver various boxes throughout the week on other trucks.
UPS and Amazon shows up here and there as well. USPS used to bring boxes all of the time, but more and more people have realized they are useless and I rarely get anything sent here using their services.
I must see 5 or more trucks a day some days. I don't know how it got this crazy, but I wonder sometimes if they could streamline this nonsense so it made more sense.
What do I know though??? Some guy out there is a billionare because he knows better than me about this...it just seems a little unnecessary to have all of these trucks coming to the same location and not combine some of these deliveries and pick ups.

I must get USPS service that is an anomaly because they are as least as good as the other guys. UPS does o.k. 90% of the time but FedEx doesn't even come close. Finally got a Amazon package from FedEx on the third try. Somehow both of the first 2 were so damaged by the time they got to the local depot that they didn't even attempt delivery! Every 4 weeks I get a next day delivery of a prescription. When it was UPS I could count on it by noon. Since they switched to FedEx, it can get here anytime between 10am and 8pm. Kinda screws up the whole day and I have learned not to plan anything else that day.
Actually glad we have all the different shipping options. Competition keeps the costs down a little and if you have a bad local delivery guy you can avoid him. Of course,I am not answering the door and getting 4 or 5 deliveries a day and can see where that could get tiresome.

Here, Amazon's delivery is BY FAR the best. Hard to believe that I can order something this evening, and it will be left at my door before I am up in the morning. They have recently started making deliveries by their night shift workers, delivering a few small packages on their way home. Walmart started that before Amazon did.

Fed Ex has three separate services: Express, Ground and Home Delivery. They're supposed to be merging these into one service soon. That should be better, at least for Fed Ex. Not sure how this merge will affect all the different routes.
The Ground routes are contracted from Fed Ex. Often, the contractor has multiple routes and hires employees to do the actual delivery work. Those drivers have a high turnover rate, because of relatively low pay and benefits. Home Delivery may be the same?
The Express drivers work directly for Fed Ex and usually have a specific route.

UPS did not have air conditioning in their delivery trucks until this last contract was signed. Imagine that in 90 - 100 degree summer weather stuck in city traffic. Older trucks will not be retrofitted. They earn their money in my opinion.

I get fedx express and fed ground each in a day but the fed depot's are a mile apart go figure

I see all these delivery trucks on my block 10 -15 times a day. There's one house that gets anywhere from 4-6 deliveries a day. alone.

Same here, it's about a 7 mile run to the Postal Orifice. Our UPS and FedEx guys and gals are usually chained this time of year.
Loki know the UPS van by sound and he starts to salivate when the guy's still 300 yards out.

We don't even have mail delivery here. The rural carrier, my brother, retired from USPS last year after 40 years. His sub, 77 years old, quit the first of January. Since then we have had no delivery. The rural route is 90 miles with 170 boxes covering three different towns. One town has 90 people, another 110 and my town, the biggest, has 225.
The USPS dropped the carrier position down to a part-time job with zero benefits. The pay is $21.90 per hour but you have to run your vehicle out of that, too. The route is almost all gravel roads so that is hard on a vehicle. Nobody wants to do it so we all have to drive to our respective post offices for mail. That is about 5 miles for me. I go get the mail every Thursday, or more often if I am expecting something. We still have our house in town so that is where the packages are delivered. FedEx and UPS both go through town every day and I can see on the computer if a package has been delivered.
It totally stinks; the mail was handled better 125 years ago.

We had two trucks show up yesterday....one box had a plug adapter that has phonecharger and standard outlet type plugs. The other box was a big plastic jar of cashews. On top of coming on Sunday it just seems that this is so over the top wasteful in every way imaginable. I'm guessing Larry ordered both of these things from the bald guy's online outfit at the same time.
If USPS wasn't ran so horrifically they could get in on this delivery ordeal to make things a bit more streamlined. If you are ordering something that isn't "essential" they could just send your boxes to the post office where the delivery people that run the routes could bring it all with the mail....and make a buck or two. I can wait a day or two more for my wall plug and cashews, plus...having seventeen trucks come to the house each week is a bit overboard some weeks.

around here they do , we get Amazon and smaller UPS packages all the time in with our mail and even get Amazon stuff on Sunday delivered by the Mail Man
