Learnt a new way to do pinto beans.

    I have heard if you soak beans in baking soda or add baking soda when cooking, it prevents people from farting. Beans are not beans if they dont make you fart.

    As a kid my mom would ad a bit of baking soda to bingo orsoupbeans as they are know tous

    To take away the gas effect

    My wife also from a southeren family just slow cooks them most of the day and adds in ham pieces and or the bone from a ham to add more flavor

    We like to toss in a jalapeno or two.

    I like to add a shot of apple cider vinegar to my bowl of ready to eat beans or bowl of bean soup. I developed the taste when I was young, as my mom did this. Not only did it taste good to me but also kept the farts away!

    I do this by the bowl and not by the whole batch. Others may not care for it. Do the same with chili seasonings.

    Just baked a Hamann food sealed and froze the ham bone and parts for later fot the bean pot
