Found in My Parents’ Attic……
Not a gun….. but pretty neat. I was cleaning things out for them and found these tucked away in a plastic bag in with a bunch of old junk paperwork from my grandpa’s Navy stuff.

That's a neat find... When my aunt was cleaning out my grandparents house we found the newspaper my dad saved from when President Kennedy was assassinated.
I wish young people today that are supporting Hamas and thinking socialism is a good thing knew that NAZI means National Socialist Party or something close to that...

Yep, Mom had the Kennedy one too….about 14 copies.
Guess my kids will clean my attic out some day and find the 9/12/01 papers I put in a bag.6 -

Looking at them some more, I think I might frame a few for the wall…especially the first couple (VE Day).

when my mom sold her house to move in to assisted living, I went up in the small attic. Nobody wanted to go because it was so hard to get up there. There were three boxes. One with dad old college books, one with his 1939 high school letter jacket, and one with his Flying Tigers complete uniform with over three hundred pictures and letters he sent home.. I have seen only one of these jackets with the Burma Chine patch on it. We almost left it.

Congratulations on your find, and it appears they are in good shape.
What I really find interesting is the Stars and Stripes, dated December 26 1944.
The one article that I found most interesting is the one where it talks about the transportation workers going on strike in London. I’m surprised they would have done that during war time.Thanks for sharing.

Oh my goodness! There are preservationists out there who would love love LOVE to be able to scan these for present and future generations! Even the Library of Congress doesn't have these particular newspapers…
Could I bother you to look up your nearest library and see if their staff can help you digitize these for preservation? If you need any help with that I'm 100% available, I really want to see these newspapers preserved and archived!

when my mom passed we found a box of stuff my dad sent to her when he went to basic training in mississippi, 8-10 base newspapers and 4 didn't even have the paper wrapper taken off, like a cigar. I took them to the local veterans museum and donated them, though I doubt the were worth anything close to your papers. she also had a scrapbook of local newspaper stories about any of the local families that was printed, promotions, injuries, mia's and deaths, the folks at the museum went nuts over the scrapbook…….

Please be careful to keep them out of direct sunlight or ant direct bright light. May want to consult someone regarding preservation.

Thanks, Don. I hadn’t really thought of that, since they’ve been sitting in the extremes of a southern VA attic for 50 years or so. You make a great point, though. Now that they’re out in the open, direct light could probably make short work of them if I’m not careful.
