Goodbye, Carol
We lost our little black and tan Sunday night.
She was brought to us from an abusive home 13 years ago, and for the first 3+ years we had to be careful of how we moved our hands around her or she would cower in fear. She grew into a happy and rambunctious little lady, but her health was failing over the past year. She suffered a stroke Sunday night, and though we were with her as she passed, I don't think she knew we were there for her at that last. Up until her last day, she would get up at 5:00 and let me know it was breakfast time with a gentle, yet forceful couple of barks.
Carol had a rough start to life, but we were blessed to be able to provide her with a happy home, constant companionship, and we hope a life she enjoyed.

One of our curent pound hounds Macie it took a couple years for her to realize if we reached out we were not going to hit her .sad they have to fear such things

It is so very hard to say goodbye to our furry friends. Sorry for your loss Don.

She is the third pup we have lost in our 37 years together, and it seems to get harder to say goodbye each time. We are looking at fostering an older dog to keep David company going forward. There are quite a few in need from what I understand.
Thanks to all for responding. I’m a bit of an old softy and don’t talk about things like this in person as people seems to be uncomfortable when an old man tears up.
