Israel has retained the art of how to fight a war. The United States has for the last 4 years, decided it’s better to abandon are allies and worry about appeasing protestors and getting their vote.

"If the shooting starts, with our military today, with our current commander-in-chief, I'm guessing we are screwed!"

Agreed! If the shooting starts, we better be learning to speak Farsi! We will be sold down the river in short order!

I support Israel but they screwed the pooch today. They blew up a World Central Kitchen food convoy that had been coordinated with them.

They should've marked their convoy better. Also the Jews could've seen them as a resupply for the enemy. Maybe we should let the Jews handle it (what did Conan say?) "crush your enemies, and to hear the lamentation of the women.". This whole watch where you shoot is silly when the enemy did whatever they wanted.

Oh, the dominant sentiment in this forum is support for Israel?

    Hmm. Okay.

    Hmm. Okay.

Like Stallone once said "They drew first blood, not me." (this time).

And we all know without a clear victor this will just keep on keeping on like covid "boosters".

All I know is to let Israelis deal with Israeli matters and to let them get all Old Testament if they want to.

We take it then that notdracon supports terrorists.

There have been at least 6 major conflicts with Israel being attacked by it's Arab/Muslim neighbors since the country was formed in 1948. That doesn't count untold numbers of rockets, suicide bombers, and other acts of terrorism that Israel has had to endure. I hope that you are correct about a clear victory would bring some peace, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Contrary to what they claim, the Muslim faith is not based on peace.

II find it funny that many liberals voice support for a culture that has enslaved women, kills LGTB people, punished theft by cutting off appendages, hangs or stones to death political or religious opponents, etc… Perhaps they figure that with a real strong talking to, the followers of Islam will change their ways after 14 centuries of primitive savagery. Yeah, like that's gonna happen. Bob

I would suggest if you get a moment you read Zechariah 14 1-15. This pretty much explains the biblical side of it. As far as the human side of it. On October 7th Hamas murdered, raped, kidnapped, burnt children to death with the intent to bring about the destruction and end of Israel.
If you support or find sympathy with a group such as Hamas; shame on you.

@yoshmyster Agree with the Stallone quote, Israel should've thought things through better before stirring the beehive back in 1948. Also agree that the zionists should fight their own battles and stop crying to us for more money and weapons.

@Rocky Raab No? I'm very much against terrorists, the anti-Israel sentiment in my post there should've been a sign of that.

@NeoBlackdog I mean it's not like either of us is in a position to do anything to the other. It's telling of your character that you'd boldly side with Israel over the people of Palestine, that much I'll say.

@BobJudy Right, "formed in 1948". Very sanitized way that avoids mentioning the Nakba. Israel just spawned out of the blue one day and every Arab nation has been mean to them for no reason ever since. Also, I don't need to agree with the culture to know that corralling 1.5 million people to starve to death is wrong.

@waltermoe For the biblical side, it sure doesn't seem like Jerusalem has any trouble holding it's own, I think the end of times is still a good, long while away. As for the human side I agree that Oct 7 was a real bloodbath: the IDF needs to train their troops better to prevent less blue on blue massacres like it in the future.

@NotDracon - why don't you give a little more color to what you mean by "stirring the beehive". I am bracing for an argument against on some existential level - but I certainly won't put words in your mouth.

It's probably good for you that we're not in a position to do anything to the other. Had you insulted my character like that to my face you'd be at your dentist's now getting some teeth fixed.

@NotDracon Between 1947 and 1948 almost a million Jews were driven out of 11 Arab countries, which led up to the Nakba. Of course the hostilities of most of the Arab world, especially Jordan, aren't mentioned in the somewhat fictional history of the Nakba presented by the Palestinians. Even if it helps your conscience to downgrade and call the wars and terrorist attacks being "mean" to Israel, you are stretching the truth a bit. In 1947, prior to the Nakba, a Muslim fatwa was enacted calling for a jihad against all zionists. In reality, the actions of the Israelis during the 1948 conflict should be considered self defense and not unwarranted aggression on their part. You have a right to an opinion, but having an educated opinion would be even better. Bob

@BobJudy - we are neck deep in a "never-let-the-facts-get-in-the-way-of-a-good-hate-narrative" territory. You have firm command of the facts and timeline. You can and could go back to 1917 and the Balfour Declaration for even more context. 6 million dead Jews later there is an indeed imperfect, but internationally supported formation of Israel. It's a trope that zionists have brought this on themselves. I, for one, believe there is not peace until there is two-state recognition. But that recognition cannot be of Hamas - an unapologetic terrorist organization laughably masquerading as a government. It stupidly obvious to say the peace process can't start until the killing stops - but Israel didn't start the killing.
