H&R model 299 with the barrel being shortened might not be.

Google "I really want a 999, explain..." and there is a discussion with info on the various models of 999 Sportsman and predecessors. You may be able to pin it down using this info.

Yea , have tried google for hours , it's the lever that holds the cylinder as part of barrel I never see in gun part sales. One guy told me it was a pre 999 model ??? Beats me though...

Could it have some collector value as a genuine prop gun from the days of radio dramas?

What if you just had a smith recrown the barrel and attach sights?

Let me start by saying I know nothing about those old guns. I did find this parts set on the auction side. Hope it helps.

I don't know about the extra lever but want to say that the family and media history is great.
