    "Comes with a cling"

That has to be the reason. You don't get a cling with just any old gun. In fact, I don't know where you can get a 30-06 with a cling these days.

Have no idea why it sold for that price. Parts gun IMHO.

The bidders were NR and a few with a couple ratings. Over wrought and trying to get a win.

…maybe because its a WWII relic ?… but they are extremely accurate if the bore is pristine…my Dad was a sniper & used one like that during WWII…man he had Eagle eyes…I have a picture of him when he was in the Ardennes during the Battle of the Bulge, holding that rifle, plus scope…miss you Dad…

I have seen 03s bring that kind of money before, but not that one. There could be hundred reasons why they would pay that much. Only one I can think of is he really wanted it. I’ve been guilty of that myself a couple of times in life. Lol

Seller got a very good price for that rifle. A bit of a bidding war at the end works wonders.

I've never really considered parting with my '03, but seeing that might make me change my mind. I think I'm still stuck in the late 1990s and early 2000s as far as pricing goes.

I bought a custom cling with a cool thumb hole for $100, and no stupid Springfield to tote around. I don't get that cling making it more valuable.

Maybe it was one that the barrel was filled with lead that the DI at Parris Island used for “motivation “.
