Cell Phone Provider?
I'm thinking about moving away from AT&T. Wide coverage is important to me. I should also add that I would like to keep my old phone number if possible. Any thoughts and opinions on other providers guys?

Xfnity cell for us. Xfinity uses Verizon towers. I think all the providers give you a porking, so I guess it's the most reliable coverage where you live.

I live where there is no cell coverage. My opinion wouldn't be worth spit.

Patriot Mobile works for me. And if there is not cell coverage a SAT Phone works.

We've had PureTalk for several years now. Works great, at least in our area. Their system works off Sprint and T Mobile towers.
They have lots of options for data usage and no price changes and such foolishness like we had with Verizon.

Another vote for Mint. They run on the T-Mobile network and are pretty darn cheap. My one gripe with them is that their support staff are base in the Philippines. If you can't understand what the person on the other end is saying, hang up and try again until you get one that is intelligible! We've only had to use support once after initial setup.

I think that Mint is the service my son got….they are super cheap and he hasn't had any issues. The plan he got was $100 for unlimted service for the entire year. If he had paid monthly it was going to be something like $20. It was from Target. He told me they use the same towers as AT&T.
I have toyed with the idea of moving from Verizon, but I'm lazy.

The saying the "use the same towers" is unpredictable as far as service around here. I have Verizon and yes they are a complete useless group with service and want to put it to you and do on the cell phone bills but they work. I had friends visit me from out of areas and the AT&T phones were useless and T-Mobile had limited service.

Started with All-Tel back in 91, they sold out to AT&T, still with AT&T never had a problem with either, learned a long time ago it's best not to rock the boat when all is good. I also still have my first bag phone stuck away, maybe it's museum time for it.

I've had AT&T for around 50 years. No issues and a local store if I need help.

You can always keep your existing number when you change providers.
I've found all providers to be equally mediocre. Go with the one that doesn't lock you into a contract so you can easily change should their service be sub-par.18 -
Been with US Cellular since 2003. Started with a flip phone at first, got my first iPhone 11 four years ago. I pay $44 a month for unlimited usage on a prepay plan they call it, and no contracts involved.
Forgot to add, it always seems to work good every where I go. I live in the Midwest.0 -
Us cell for us . 3 lines unlimited text etc No idea on costs , son pays for it . Tried Verizon a few years ago . Even though they have a tower less than a mile from my house I was unable to use phone inside my house . Didn't take long to switch back .

There are only two providers. ATT and Verizon. Everyone uses their services to piggy back off of.
If you are in the City suburbs ATT tends to work great. In Rural or out in the way areas Verizon is the way to go.
You can easily find out which company provides the service to your phone

Total Wireless, Reach. Page Plus, Xfinity, Spectrum Twigby, Red Pocket, Net10 and a few More
ATT :
Straight Talk Wireless, Pure TalkUSA, Cricket Wireless, H@) Wireless, Red Pocket Mobile, Tracphone, Consumer Cellular, Airvoice Wireless, , T-Mobile, Mint and a few more.
Patriot is available on both systems depending on coverage in your area.

…I had AT&T, and neighbor had Cricket…my phone has worked fine everywhere I've ever been & the monthly bill is $30 bucks, not $30 then weird fees added, $30 total…

It's also a conservative, un-woke company, and when you sign up, they'll pay your dues in the AMAC for three years. (Association of Mature American Citizens, a conservative alternative to AARP.)

My Tracfone is not bad. Get a top dollar phone and it will do what the rest will.

I'm with Verizon on a no-contract $30/month deal. Some months I don't even turn the phone on, and last week I was forced to send my first text (only took me 10 minutes to figure out how.)
