Yep, I was told October for one issue and August for another two weeks ago, I said that won't work and they said was I ok with community care? I said sure, still waiting to hear from them. I'll be calling a patient advocate next week and become a squeaky wheel I guess. The local VA clinic says go to emergency room if needed….

Please explain patient advocate. I don't see how going to the emergency room would help in my case of deteriorating vision. Thank you for any more helpful information you may have. Ed

I'm my dad's advocate and I get r done usually... Things are crazy. His phone was being goofy and he couldn't pick it up and missed a phone appointment. It's rescheduled for July. He even met a vet that moved to Panama was flying all the way to Fort Miley to see the cardiologist because they're the best in the nation.

By the way, my dad meets a lot of fellow vets from over Nevada way that don't use Reno. Aren't pleased with it. They come to San Francisco.

For many years I was extremely happy with the Reno facility. But I haven't been there in eight years, things may have changed. Nearly all of my medical needs have been through Medicare. It was a fluke decision to try the V.A. for this issue. I may have to go back to my private provider. I don't ever want to go to San Fran……

Unfortunate for Vets, the V.A. has been selected to supply services for our new" immigrants". This should slow down VETERAN'S needed attention a little! Good job ObamaBidenism.

Possibly Putin might help the overcrowding?

@elubsme my point about the emergency room was that it is the answer I got when asking about trying to get treatment sooner was told "you can always go to the emergency room because they have access to all specialist there" in my case not all types of services are available in the local clinic or even the larger facility in Fort Worth, I would need to go to the Dallas main VA facility emergency room.

As for the Patient Advocate I am talking about the actual VA has personnel assigned as advocates for each facility, @Lady Rae is being an advocate for her father, not the same as I was talking about" Check out this link to the VA website to see what I'm referring to: https://www.va.gov/HEALTH/patientadvocate/

    Hope this helps.

The VA is a massive poorly run government agency. I have been told the exact same thing. It took me 13 years to get my Agent Orange benefits even though I had 6 of their "listed" conditions. I finally got a disability lawyer. He knew all their devious way and got it in front of a law judge. The judge reprimanded the VA and made the give me 13 years of back benefits. The lawyer gets 30% which sucks but would have never gotten it without them. Va back log for care is months away. Community care is better but they have to make that hard to get care too. Problem is nobody cares.

Central Texas VA work great for me. Got my eye exam done as a walk in.
