I have to make a decision
I've been looking at two different revolvers to purchase but can only buy one of them.
One is a Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull and the other is the S&W 627 Performance Center in .357 magnum (eight round). Both are used and both are half the price of a new one.
I have no need for either one but I'm a firearm addict and can't help myself š
I think that the S&W would be more collectable and less common than the Ruger and wouldn't
hurt like I know the .454 would . What are your opinions on the choices?

I'm a fan of 38/357 revolvers so I lean towards the smith, but then again I am curious about the ruger. So I'm no help at all.

That .454 kicks like a mule.

What's the difference btw a Super RH in .454 and an Alaskan in .454?
Mostly barrel length.

Go for the S&W

If they are both half the price of a new one, tell yourself you are buying "one new gun"ā¦
And then buy bothā¦. case closed !!!!! š
Personally I would go with the Smithā¦

You need a wheelbarrow to carry both of them. I would shoot S&W more.

Smith. Licks like a mule might be a slight understatement. I had an Alaskan in .480 Ruger. Wundudnee and I each fired it once. Muzzleflash the size of a basketball. It was a comfort in case of bear, but not that much. Kasey sold it for me.

Smithā¦itāll likely see more use.

In this case, Iād buy a Colt.

I have Glocks.

I'd go with the Smith & Wesson. It's a great gun and you'll want to shoot it. The Ruger is a great gun but you'll have to get fit to shoot it and getting fit cuts into your shootin' time.

I'm afraid the "getting fit" ship has already sailed, at my age there isn't a "fit" scenario. š

I gave up getting 'fit' for getting 'fat'. Much more satisfying! š

Buy both and go on a Top Ramen diet for a while. Besides when will you ever run into another bargain like this again?
With the 454 chop the barrel and Mag-Na-Port it and go look for trouble with a brown bear in Alaska.

Seems only fitting, I carry all my wheel guns in wheelbarrows.š
