What Is A "Normal" Fee For Transferring A NFA Firearm?
I'm in Texas and have a SOT. I got the SOT mainly to please the alphabet boys, since I help another SOT sell his guns.
So, I have no NFA inventory, and only in the last few days I received my first request for a transfer. A SOT vendor contacted me and stated they have a copy of my 07FFL but need a copy of my SOT. I complied and asked what it was for. They stated that a customer unknown to me has ordered a suppressor.
OK...this will be a new experience for me. I think I can get through it OK, but I don't know how much I should charge the customer. For normal Title 1 firearms, I charge $10 to transfer it. Probably a little low but I get a lot of repeat business.
I figure the Form 3/Form 4, NFA jail time should add some to the fee charged, but I'm not sure how much. What say you guys?
Thanks

They charge $50 for the paperwork on suppressors and $100 for the firearms at one store local to us. I don't know what the other guys around here charge.

Around here a normal transfer $15. Other transfers $25.

$50 to $100 is normal, in my NFA experiences. That covers storage too.

I pay $25 at a local gun store for a normal handgun, rifle or lower transfer.
Doesn't a suppressor have to have a tax stamp from the ATF before the suppressor can leave the FFLs business??

I've only bought one NFA firearm and a couple suppressors and all were around the $50 for the transfer. I think if it were a big firearm or something where storage could be a pain, I could see more.

It’s the same around here for nfa transfers but if it’s a shop that carries suppressors and if it’s one they have in stock then the paperwork is no charge.
